NEW THOUGHT on UKC PP

Post by Hunter »

Ok Guys and Gals ,
I think it is time to move on. I heard a message today and it was you cant move forward until you let go of the past. So I want to start by saying this is a NEW YEAR and we have a NEW UKC PP FORMAT to start focusing on. The past has kept us down for at least the past 2 years. Lets all get motivated and promote this format and make it a success. The current rules are just that, current and not ingrained in stone so lets give it a try and just note the wrinkles that need to be ironed out next year. We can make this the best format. Just enter in with an open mind and not with a mindset if it aint my way it is the highway. Good luck to everyone and have fun, Paul Greenwood

Good post Paul!
I "let go" of the ARHA/NKC over a year ago but still participated in two hunts since then at our home club. I didnt do this to support the ARHA/NKC but instead to support our club. Even though I "let go" of the ARHA/NKC I still from time to time voiced my opinions about the ARHA/NKC and those in some of the leadership roles. In the past 1 1/2 years several people who I consider good friends have been barred and most of them were barred simply for stating thier opinions or standing up for the truth. The last time I checked this is still the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and Russia hasnt taken over yet!
I guess you could say my New Years resoultion is to never support the ARHA again and thats one resoultion you can bet wont get broken.
I have always thought UKC was one of the best registries out there but the majority of our club members didnt care for the H&H format for one reason or the other. I have never been able to try the H&H format because I always took care of the MOH duties and in that format the MOH is not allowed to have a dog in the hunt and must stay at the club house. Since the new UKC PP format has came along our club has decided to go strictly UKC and we have hunts scheduled in both formats. We have a older guy in the club that can not get around and he has agreed to take on the MOH duties for the H&H format so maybe I will get to try it out soon.
You are correct about the new format, im 100% sure its not perfect but show me one that is. Im sure there will be growing pains but what format hasnt had them. All we can do as Beaglers is go in with an open mind, try it a few times and then voice our opinions before the next rules meeting. UKC has put alot of work into getting this new format up and going in a short period of time. The rules meeting for the new format was held less than a month ago and as of last week there were already somewhere between 10-14 hunts scheduled and im sure the ink hasnt dried on the new rule rule books yet! I would say thats pretty good!
We are also lucky that we have a AKC MidWest club close so you can bet I will be supporting them also!
Goodbye ARHA/NKC......hello UKC and AKC!

A couple of good posts from both of you guys,I dont "know' anything about UKC's new format.I have only heard a little bit from several different folks. However having said that it looks like UKC's intention is to fully support this new format. If that happens then the only way it will fail in the long run(in my opinion) is if the folks competing in it let it fail.It looks like it is starting out with a lot of good folks so it shouldnt fail. Besides some folks I know personally and others that I only know from these boards I have heard that a lot of the people involved have a strong history in the ARHA.I met the Legue boys once and they seem to be awful good folks.I know there are some other former PP diehards.I heard UKC got a lot of feedback from you guys when setting up the rules so this thing is pretty much your baby.Turn it into everything it can be. You will always have someone who doesnt like something about the rules(Heck that person may be me) but as long as you try and make it as fair and as good as it can be for the majority of folks then you have done your job.I hope the folks on this board who were treated so shabbily by the ARHA will put all their energy into making this program a suceess. That will be the best revenge you could ever have.I may run in the new format sometime and I may not but regardless of that I wish you guys a ton of success and good luck.

I totaly agree. The new format has to be approached with an open mind. I f you are on a cast and there is a rule dicrepancy or a rule wasnt applied correctly you have to realize that everyone is learning a new format. These rules are new and if any flaws are found they will be tweeked. Look where we are at in personal entertainment. We started out with a 78 RPM record and are now at the ipod. We started out with a beta machine to watch home movies are now at the dvd. The new rules will be tweeked by the members of the UKC. You as a member can submit your Ideas for a rule change. When the commitee meets your sugesstion will be presented to them and voted on.I t will not happen at midnight by secret vote. You will be allowed to be a active participant in what goes on with the UKC. If you visit the UKC website you will know that if the UKC is looking for ideas about changing something or trying something new Todd Morgan will post his thoughts and then ask members what they think and ask for ideas and suggestions. The members get out of the UKC what they put into it.

first a couple of questions for TC.How is that dog in your avitar bred? Also what has made you decide to move to Ky from Oregon?

Now one for whomever is familiar with this new format. Will a dog have to circle a rabbit solo to be certified as a champion like in ARHA PP?

Thanks for your help.
