It seems a pro would not kill rabbits today when he can run them tomorrow. Im not a pro but I am a full time beagler. The rabbits are at the bottom of the food chain. When you shoot a rabbit all you do is just end a good race. I told myself that I was not going to kill anymore rabbits around where I live. I was going to rabbit hunt where it was to far to drive everyday to run. That is not right either. It might be someones running grounds. Today is New Years Day and from now on I`m going to leave my shotgun at home and only cary a hand gun in case I run into a house cat our other preditor to the rabbit. In my part of KY its getting harder and harder to find places to run my dogs. I was out running a dog solo at one of the best places I ever ran and I ran into rabbit hunters that were shooting rabbits on the jump. I was only armed with a blank starting pistol and I was giving them guys hell. The place was soon to be gone and I was traping rabbits there and moving them to a different area . I didn`t like them guys killing rabbits there so I not going to kill rabbits in somebodys running grounds elsewhere. I have never ate any of the rabbits I killed over the years anyway. I gave them away.
keep em runnin your friend in the bluegrass

Heres a funny one for you J.

My Mt Curs have dew claws (the breed standard calls for them) but none of my hounds, either beagle or coonhounds come with dew claws. It is genetic.

"Some fellows that are posting on this thread claim to be judges in beagle hunts."

Yep Tick, I been judging this thread the same way YOU judge dogs on the internet and not in the field and I've yet to tell a lie.

"The only way to score plus points in this cast is to drop them PRO hounds down with the ametuers."

My only question to you is ARE YOU GOING TO RUN your dogs against JMurphy's ($1000.00) and or Swing's ($500.00) for the dollar amounts stated?
This is not a hard question to answer as it only takes one word to do so,
YES or NO! No need to go into a long drawn out explicit answer of getting buddy judged, cheated, lied to or about, slandered, libeled, two sets of rules, dew claws or no dew claws, wrong format, as the challengers have agreed to run in your back door with judges that meet your personal satisfaction under whatever rules you so desire. The ball is in your court to prove that these no count title carriers are in fact bogus and you even get to stack the odds in your favor by getting the home court advantage along with judge and jury selection. This would be a great opportunity for you to advance your money making cause and get folks interested in all the money afforded to Pro's via futurities and breeders purses in this sport of beagling. Man TICK, if you could win these two trials you'd not only be TOP PRO with $1500.00 cold, hard, cash of JMurphy and Swing's money but probably THE MAN amoung pros and you wouldn't be able to keep them PKC registered pups and dogs of yours. What a golden opportunity to advance your cause for a mear $1500.00 investment.
Remember in your reply to answer only YES or NO.

Swing:
that was a great post you found.I had seen that one but didnt print that one up I dont think.

dk:
I mostly agree with the things you said. You darn sure aint going to run a rabbit tommorrow if you kill it today. However I do think it is extemely important to kill rabbits over young dogs. There are also a few places where I think you can kill a truckload of rabbits and your probably only helping the existing population.Kansas would we be an example.
I am pretty much in the same boat as you are regarding rabbits here locally. In our situation it is due to loss of habitat more than hunting. We still have places within a reasonable driving distance where we can hunt. There are also a few industrial parks where the cover is thick and holds a lot of rabbits. Those are one of my favorite places to run.you cant hunt them but they are a bunch of fun to run.

Lamarr:
Yeah the lawyer thing is pretty much stupid.I prefer to handle problems myself but you can bet that if someone threatens me with something I am going to find out what my level of exposure is and the best way to respond.I was pretty shocked to find that some could file a bs suit and make you come to their state and defend it.

Jesse:
Your right, it is getting pretty deep in here and I am glad we are entertaining you.lol

mooredog:
I have to confess I dont know what DEET is?

Warddog:
I am going to have to get with you to learn something about coondogs.I know you used to compete quite a bit and I sure dont know much about them. You are right I do use a lot of different names for ole Hootie, mostly just to make him mad.I think I like the one you use the best though. just plain old "Tick".Obviously I know what a tick is but just on a whim I decided to see what how Webster defined the word. The definition said " A bloodsucking parasite" .I think that pretty much says it all..

Hootie: where is my lawsuit?

I just saw where you were begging someone to fight your fights for you on another thread. If you think I "Need a good whacking" then why dont you give me one?My God?You really are pathetic.Every time I think you couldnt get more pathetic you end up proving me wrong. You know what a nancyboy is dont you?I am starting to believe some of the rumours I am hearing.Put on your womens underwear and run to the teacher and tell her the big rough boys are being mean to you.If you dont get any help there then go and beg someone to get in a fight for you.You crack me up.lol

Hey Steve,
If you were referring to me in that statement, I never considered myself a pro.
I am just a rabbit hunter, thats is no longer able to trial my dogs in NKC because I stood up for my friends, that I knew were trying to do what was right rather than sticking a knife in their back and turning it.
I didnt ever trial but once or twice in P.P. division, but I did like it.
But when I seen things being done dirty the way Randy, Dale and Matt were done, and now Terry Sudduth, Brian and Paul, me included, I have no use for a cheater or liar or a backstabber.
So thats what has caused my problems with NKC, and I will live with it. I got tired of going and judging about every round. Thats why I would rather just kill rabbits.

I am also one of those uneducated Kentucky boys, but if you ever hunt down at land between the lakes you have to use DEET to keep the little sorry, blood sucking TICKS off butt !!!

a pile of rabbits is a heck of a lot more impressive, and fun to get, than all the trophies in the world.

You are sure right about that.I deerhunted down there for about 8 years or so.Early in bowseason before the first frost we used to get covered up with those jokers. We would be itchin and scratchin for weeks afterwards.
