Field Trialing
I have never trialed before and I think I would like to get into. Where does a guy start. Do I just show up at a trial and enter my dog or is there like a pre qualifying that is necessary? Are there any trials for a dog that hasn't ever ran a trial before? I have male dog that is in his second season of hunting and is running really well. Is this too young? I live in central New York we have a lot of formats close by. I would love info on anything. Thanks guys and gales
Take a kid hunting and you won't have to hunt for your Kid!!!
just show up with your papers and entry fee (around $15 most formats) and you enter your dog in the "open" class. most guys there are glad to help you out if you ask questions.
to run akc trials you have to have your correct papers and info with you. to run arha, ukc, pkc etc you can register your dog that day if you need to and still run. just bring what info you have on the dog and the secretary will help you out.

mike look at the first post on this page Glendale Trial that should be pretty close to you in Central NY Glendale BC is located a few miles North of Binghampton NY. This is an AKC Trial and you would need AKC Reg papers with you to fill out the entry form. Nice bunch of people there too! Just tell a friendly face it's your first trial and you'll get plenty of help and suggestions! Best of luck!
