televised SPO Nationals today.

You know, I watched the SPO nationals held in Beaver Dam KY. and there were some pretty good hounds there. I have a few questions about it though. I have attended a few spo trials and those hounds I watched run today seem to have a little less foot than I'm use to seeing at other spo trials. Are there other SPO National events for a little faster running style hound other than large pack? A buddy of mine came over and we tried to judge the pack from our chairs and came pretty close to get the winners... Had alot of fun watching those hounds on the chase.. Also how do they pick thier judges for this event? well keep'em running and have a happy new year!!!

Although the event is open for any style hound that is eligible under the SPO guidelines, the majority of hounds entered there are from more conservative federations like UBGF, DSBGF, etc. The only federation I'm aware of that runs a hound as aggressive and footy as you're used to seeing is the Mid-West Beagle Gundog Federation. You're probably already quite familiar with them but on the odd chance you aren't, here is the link to their site. http://www.mid-west-gundog.com/ I think you'll see many familar bloodlines as quite a few Mid-West folks also run LPOH.

I'm not positive on the judge selection process, but I'm pretty sure they try to pick judges from the different federations. Someone else can probably answer that better for you.

That is the national event, lol, for all SPO. It's just that the majority of hounds entered will be the more conservative style so you won't see as many entries of the Mid-West style hounds. Ya never know what the future will bring though.

It would have been nice to know it was going to be televised before it aired. I'd of loved to watch. If anyone knows if it will be replayed or of any other beagle events being televised let us know.
