What if you still gave out the trophies but instead of giving a big dollar prize to the top 10 maybe you just give back the entry fee to the top 3 or 5? I am just going to my first trial this weekend and I'm only doing it because I have a dog that could possibly win so it's worth a shot and I want to meet some new people and have some fun trying it out, not to win money. But if I could win back my entry fee it would be that much better. I'm not sure what the pro's and con's would be to doing this as I have never ran a trial before but when I get together with my buddies to play cards it's nice to win back the buy-in for the next game. Another thought would be to give like a voucher for free entry to another hunt instead of getting it back that day. Then if someone is fairly serious about trialing they would be more inclined to come to another trial. Just some thoughts, let me know if I'm off my rocker.
