I'm game on the new rules....
I was game on the old ones....

I did not like the fact of people scratching dogs ... but hell i don't like pinto beans either... but I eat em'

I am in it for grins and giggles... I like the people i have met, the adventures i get into when traveling and the time with my hounds on a new piece of ground i have never ran on. Sure it feels great when you win ( and we have several times ) and I am sure it would feel great to win HOY ( never even been close ) but it sure feels great when we hold a hunt and people say it is a nice club and good group of guys ... win loose or draw i like the hunts ... hell with a points system .. have alittle fun!!

No need to buy the magazine anymore if the points arent going to be posted. I always enjoyed seeing which hounds were doing what. Kind of the Competitiveness of it. I think it is a little too many rules. But I hardly ever trial so GOOD lUCK.

look at scotty kerns this year,he will win the opens and he traveled with no judges, packed no extra hounds, done it in 10 to 12 hunts, and done it right, sure,i dont agree in not signing the scorecard on wins, but, you have to hold your dog open somehow the way it was set up,other than not sighnin the scorecard a couple times on birdie,he done it right.
So you are saying it's ok to minipulate the points by not signing a card, just not ok to add hounds to the hunt and the scratch them...I'm really confused.. Personally, I would say neither deserve HOY

Over the years I have seen really good guys with outstanding hounds stoop to levels that would suprise a priest.. Just to win HOY.. I can not justify degrading my character or the ability of my hound to minipulate a contest. I am truely disappointed in a couple individials in this years race. I call them my friends, but HOY as brought out a side of them I would rather not have known.
no,i do not think it was ok,i even told scott this on many occasions, and i know it pizzed a lot of people off when he did it,cause they told me it did,i dont agree with scratching a dog period, but, the way it is set up,like haterfield addressed, you loose your chance to build on points by advancing to the next class,so,scotty had to do something to keep her open,but............not signing the scorecard, wich caused three club hunts to not have a winner

no,i do not think that was the correct thing to do,i think if he wanted to keep her open,he should have scratched her before the hunt ended.

i know that is not politically correct,i dont agree with it,but at least the clubs would have had a winner.

i was not cononing what scotty did, but,i think for the most part, other then not signing the cards,he did it right,no buddy judging,no b.s.

but, paul, riddle me this,if you feal that birdie does not deserve it,then who does?

H-O-Y
HAS ALWAY'S BEEN A JOKE AND MONEY BOUGHT IT, AND NOW THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY IT AT EVERY HUNT,, NOW, JUST WAIT UNTIL THE END OF THE YEAR AND BUY IT FROM--- N.K.C.---YOU THINK PEOPLE CHEATED BEFORE ,THIS JUST OPENED THE DOOR.----MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS--- H.O.F.---A 1000-TIMES MORE IMPORTANT TO THE BREED THAN H.O.Y. BUT NOT ENOUGH MONEY IN IT TO KEEP IT. AN H.O.F. PRODUCER HAS" DID" SOMETHING AN H.O.Y.WINNER HAS" BOUGHT" SOMETHING. ALL THIS JUST GOES TO SHOW THAT REGISTERY'S ARE ABOUT MONEY .I THINK THIS IS ONE REASON THE TRIALS AND HUNT'S HURT THE BREED AS A WHOLE .THE H.O.F PRODUCER WINNER HAS DID SOMETHING FOR THE BREED---WHAT DOES H.O.Y DO. ANYWAY GOOD LUCK WITH IT HOPE IT GET'S WORKED OUT,, I DON'T RUN TRIALS ENOUGH TO GET CONCERNED ."FISHING" SEASON IS HERE SEE YOU IN THE FALL--------------AND
KEEP'EM RUNNING

hoooooooray well done I think this format will give us "little guys" that can't afford to go half way across the U.S. A. or don't have time to do so a more fair chance .
Each person needs to keep track of thier points . If someone wants to know how many points another hound has you'll either have to go to a hunt were they are or e-mail/phone call I myself don't mind a call from a fellow beagler . Maybe a chance to B.S or make a new friend . Next they can work on the "BUDDY JUDGING"

well, you cant keep track of your points with that little 25% left up to the NKC or the club you ran at. What if you pee off ONE (1) wrong person and suddenly you find yourself banned from their club. Without any real reason. I have seen this happen to people and all it really was, was a personality conflict.NOTHING to do with the dogs.25% of the trial has nothing to do with your hounds essentially!

I like the new changes. It is a good idea to make people get more involved. I see to many people complaining about judging, and how their dog was judged, and they have never judged a cast themselves. More people need to become involved in not only their club, but their surrounding clubs. There are a lot of people who do alot for their clubs, and they never get any recognition. These are the people who keep our "sport" going. As for money and prizes, that is not why I, or most people got into trialing. I got into this to show my dogs, see other peoples dogs, and most importantly fellowship with fellow beaglers. Some of the best people I know I've met at trials. These are the reasons I go to trials, and If I win a few that's alright. Less whining and more fun!

The only problem with HOY was the LP HOY. LP HOY HAS ALWAYS BEEN A JOKE!!!!!!!!!! If NKC would have set it up like PP everything would have been taken care of. If you won PP HOY you traveled BUT you also had the best dog for that year in the class you ran in. Then you could go to the runoff and PROVE it!!!!! You didnt just win in Southern Indiana you had to win everywhere!!!! PP has to suffer because of the horrible way LP was set up. JMO!!!!!

I will still go to the hunts like I always have. Friends and having fun is what it is suppose to be about!!!!! But they are NOT PROMOTING the best dogs of the formats!!!!!!

I'M ALSO GLAD WE GOT A NEW POINT SYSTEM, BUT I DON'T LIKE THE 25% RULE. WHAT IF SOMEONE WHO IS ELDERLY OR ON BIG SIDE (LIKE MYSELF) CAN'T JUDGE AND YOUR IN A CLOSE POINT RACE WITH A GUY YOU JUDGES EVERY WEEK, DOES HIS HOUND GET THE 25% AND ALSO WHO'S GOING TO VOTE ON THAT 25%? :???: I KNOW NOBODY FROM NKC IS GOING TO BE AT EVERY CLUB HUNT ACROSS THE COUNTRY EVERY SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. JUST A FEW QUESTIONS, I THINK THEY SHOULD THINK ABOUT.

well said, couldnt have said it better!!!!!!!!!!!!

the 25%is why i wont be tryin for it anymore,i have been trialing two solid years and some change in lp now, both years,i traveled and spent as much if not more then the next guy and the guy who won the hoy, but, with this 25% bull crap, aint no way,all that does is give nkc the power to choose who they want to win.

like josh said ,i am 400 lbs,i can't judge the rabbit races in indiana, and the world hunt and lil world is where del, joyce, and the powers to be will see the people judgin, they wont be at first capital, ironton,or atlanta where i know what the rabbit is gonna do,and can stay inside the circle and cut to the checks.so if my dog has say 350 points at the end,and billy bob has 340,well,since billy bob judged 8 roiunds at the world and lil world, and is the president of big lake beagle club, and sits on the watchdog commitee, billy bob wins.

did billy bobs dog earn more hoy points then mine,no,but his dog will be named the HIGH POINT HOUND OF THE YEAR

the thing is,i would be wastin my money and time to run for it with the 25%rule,even if i judged every round at every hunt, and kissed arse wich will not happen,6 months after i started trialing,i had watchdog members, state reps, and many other tellin me,be carefull, calm down, they are just waitin for you to loose it and they are gonna kick you out of the orginization.

yeah,i had the wrong attitude when i came into this thing,if i felt i got cheated,i said something,i protested more casts in the first year prolly then ten guys have in their life.so,i did cool it,i did calm down,i kept my mouth shut, kinda, and took it in the rear on more occasion then one,but fact is,i still have a bad name in the home office, and i am not the only one, anyone tht has ever stood up to nkc or done anything they dont like is labeled, and will never stand a chance with the 25% rule, yeah,i take responsibility for my actions in the begining, but i think for the most part,i have been a good lil boy lately,i have protested 2 casts in the last year and a half, and i won both protests,so,sometimes,i am right, but, like i said, anyone that is labeled in the home office like myself, has a snowballs chance in hell of winnin the hoy under this format,no matter how bad arse and consistent our dogs are, they have the final say on who wins.

LIKE A BUDDY OF MINE SAID LAST NIGHT:

"THIS NEW HOY PROGRAM IS LIKE DRINKIN A KEG OF NON ACHOHOLIC BEER,YOU CAN SPEND ALL THE MONEY FOR IT,AND DRINK TILL YOU PUKE,BUT IN THE END,YA STILL AINT DRUNK AND JUST PIZZIN IN THE WIND!!!!"

Does rule #8 mean that they will not be publishing the hunt results in the Rabbit Hunter like they have been? I hope not because I enjoy reading the hunt results. You can see which dogs are siring the dogs that are placing alot and you can get an idea of which blood lines doing the best.
