Well I have a different outlook on things I guess..ok..lets say a dog places at the world and places at the Grand Nats etc..gets a bunch of points and all that jazz..then you have a dog win 6 of 8 local club hunts of 70 dogs. Which would be more deserving? I don't know what the answer to the problem(if there is a problem).Ol Fred and Stretch have been in or around the top 10 all year. I am proud of what they have did if they make it or not. They gave me alot of enjoyment this year. It is hard for the average guy who does this as a hobby to compete with the people pushing the money and attending alot of hunts far away. Not hating on anyone ..if I had the money it is all I would do.

Why not go by the most wins..regardless of where they are? If you place at the big hunts you could win HOY and never win a hunt..is that the true hound of the year?

i agree with brad, not wanting to make anyone mad, its just my opinion. i say only count local club hunts, not the big hunts. or state hunts. i have been to two big five hunts this year, and one state hunt. i only placed at the west virginia state. take away that place and my dog is still in top 12 or 15. now take away all the big hunts, and like brad says those that have placed at a big hunt, and see where your hoy is., im not crying or whining. im just stating my oppinion. lucy did all this at one LITTLE club , ekbc. we have alot of dogs at every hunt. im sure theres people out there like me, that cant afford to make all the BIG hunts. so lets make it fair for the poor guy that has good dogs. if the big hunt people can afford to make all the big hunts, then bring those dogs to the small hunts and see how good they are.

now, like i said, im not trying to make anyone mad. we all have oppinions. theres people on here that i consider great freinds, that have other thoughts. im just one man with one thought.

I really dont care about HOY points at this time. Lets just run our dogs and try to bring the best hound in the cast back as the winner.

These judges run their butts off and do the best they can. There is no judge that can get it all. I know I cant do better so I just keep my mouth shut and thank them for doing it for us.

BANDIT HIT TWO 5THS AT STATE HUNTS AND I DRUG HIM EVERYWHERE LAST YEAR,HE PLACED 4TH IN THE HOY,REGGIE WAS ONLY ENTERED IN THE WORLD HUNT IN LP AND FINISHED 5TH,IS BANDIT BETTER THEN REGGIE?NO,HE IS NOT.

Thats the whole reason behind the run off. That gives any one of the top 10 a chance at glory. If i had the money and time, im sure i could have a dog in the top 10 every year. It would be in top shape, and ready for trials, and would be at a trial every weekend. But i dont have the time or the money, so i dont frett over it. It my eyes, my dogs are the best. Probaby not worth 15 cents to anybody else, but to me, worth more than any of the dogs in the top 10. They are what i like, so they suit me. I dont need a title, or a win, or a top ten place to tell me what i have and dont have. DOnt get me wrong, i would love to do it, and when the money is right, ill have one there. But for now, ill just cheer on the ones i know in the run off...and sleep good at night. JMO. Its just a hobby. And if everybody would look at it that way, things would work out so much better at these trials, and people would get along so much better. Lets try doing it for the right reasons, and see how it works out.

It is a hobby gone wrong, Wait isnt there a dvd of it? I understand and agree with everyone. Here is the flip side, have a house full of youngens
300 acres to take care of and a job that sucks 60 hours a week from ya.
I cant keep a dog ready for club hunts, but i can get ready for the big ones
and part of the reason is timing. Wins are wins it dont matter where ya get em. There good and good for ya. Good dogs are everywhere.My best trophies are the time spent with friends and family afield.I been blessed
good woman who loves to run and compete. By the way i lost 100.00 about 1989 when rusty wallace won the nascar cup.He never won a race but maybe one all year, consistancy is the key.

north american 07......................13 hrs

spring nats 07..............................12 hrs

grand nats 07.............................4 1/2 hrs

average drivetime for me to hit all big 5 hunts..........almost 8 hrs

ps........my dog that is currently sittin 2nd in the hoy race was only entered in the world and the lil world,but it is still a 5 hr drive to both and that is haulin balls.and i didnt even atend the grand nats,and it was closest to me,the only state hunt i hit was the wva state,so,your point is?

could you imagin how much drive time a man would spend chasin points all year at club hunts?

bottom line is,no matter what they would change or do,there will always be someone mad.

like i said before,i say do away with the hoy,i have seen more b.s. go on and more friendships ended over a trophy and 1,000 bucks that takes 5,000 0r more to win.

Looks like NKC has fixed the problem. I just saw on their board that there will be no Hound of the Year contest for 2008 or going forward.
