I REMEMBER TALKING WITH MR MORGAN, ABOUT THIS WHEN- ARHA- FIRST STARTED.NOW IT HAS CHANGED AND,,,,,,,,, MY QUESTION IS WHY HAS IT CHANGED,,,,,,,, IT IS RIGHT BACK TO THE POINT THAT A PERSON WHO HAS A GRADE DOG, CANNOT RUN IT AND DON'T WANT TO.YES THEY CAN REGISTER IT AND SPEND THE MONEY JUST TO FIND OUT LATER, HEY WE GOT STANDARDS MAN RULES AND SUCH, YOU CAN'T BRING THAT JUNK IN HERE, EVEN THOUGH THAT'S HOW WE GOT THIS BIG IN THE FIRST PLACE ----WELL ENOUGH - FOR NOW GOING HUNTING-------- SOUNDS LIKE AN A.K.C. BOARD TO ME NOTHING WRONG WITH A.K.C. WE JUST DON'T NEED TWO OF THEM....?

amen rufus

everyone wants to whine about a dog bein to big havin an advantage in arha, well, you go to indiana swinging dogs have an advantage over line dog,in tough cover it is opposite,so,what is next?

if you think it is unfair to you to run with a 15 1/2 in dog, well,i think it is unfair to me to run with a swingin dog,is arha goin to ban the swingers so guys who run line control hounds can compete in big runnin?????..no

i know, rules are rules, but like rufus said,it was not a rule in the begining,we run the hardest hitting fastest dogs out there, and we bitch about a 1/2 in..........dog up!!!!!!!!!

i say let them all run,and i only own one big dog,and he is too good of a rabbit dog to run arha, and what i mean by that is,he gets out in the front and will not loose it to make checks,he can run 45 minutes and never had a scorable 15 second check,so,i leave him home for akc now.

yeah,my newie is 13 inches,so,wrong song brother

i have one questionable dog,we meadured him over and over, depemding on how he stands,he is between 14 3/4 and 15 1/4 propped.but he is super clean runner,so i mostly run him akc,i have put him in a lp hunt,he got out front and never let go of the rabbit, that was at the lil world,i think they had 3 15 second checks in 50 minutes running.

so,hardtrack, what dog did i just by that was supose to be over, other than jessie, who i owned before anyway,i have had all my dogs for a long time.

By the way TC,I have proof that crossed up dogs are being run.A local dog you may have ran against is 1/4 foxhound. He is also a feild champion and was ran at the world and little world. He is also 16and1/2 inches. He is one heck of a rabbit dog.

my buddy has a female that measures 12 inches on a good day,she runs with 15 and over dogs everday, footin and checkin them to death,so why cant a 13 run with a 16?

i agree,16 is a lil big,but i am more concerned about the borderline dogs,15 at natural requires stance,15 1/2 propped up like a show dog.that is why,i think, start official,so that way,you can have the dog measured at 18 months,if it wont measure in,ship it out,if it does, then put time in it,how would you like to have a dog you have stood 50 times and measured at natural stance,15 at the withers, run it for 3 years, then go to the world hunt, have the moh stand it like a show dog and send ya home with a 15 1/4 in measurement.

mr vansickle have you ever coached little league baseball you remind of the coach of the bronz team that had the 16 year old kid that pitched for them, if there is no advantage for the big dogs why are you so hell bent on braking the rules, nobody said a small dog is not as fast as a big ones i have seen big slow ones and have seen fast small ones but rules are there for a reason. if they changed the rules you would be hollaring to change them when you got a bigger one i think any one that weights over 275 should not handle they can,t keep up

Vansickle get down!! Enemy fire straight ahead

This dead horse has been beat to death, and we havent gotten any where yet in the last 5 pages. I do agree with Van-nizzle, when some people measure dogs it is in a show pose, totally incorrect. But like everything else in life, take the good with the bad. Now that the trial season is pretty much over for me,I'm just ready to slay rabbits .....WHO'S WITH ME??? :D

Well all I got to say to this is more power to him! If that is what makes ya feel good to win dishonestly yer not promoting a better dog of the breed, but that is ok it is his mantel and it is his consience that will bite him in the butt eventually.

Like said before, got a over sized but he won't be at a trial unless they do have an oversize trial, but until then he stays at home and runs with the dogs on fun days....

Bending the rules and slipping in something that isn't right is just plain cheating and if that is what it takes for some to win then more power to em. I would rather get mine honestly.

for the record and the fifth time,i am not running any dogs over in ARHA,that is not the purpose of the post,i have three dogs that are 14 3/4 to 15,i dont want to put 4 to 5 months of sleepless nights soloing and getting dogs ready for the world,to walk to the stake, have a measurement called, and watch my dog get propped up on its tippy toes in show pose and go 15 1/4.

yes.rules are rules,i aint tryin to break them,i am tryin to CLEARIFY them, the rule is not the problem,it is a good rule,BUT,if it is going to be inforced as it is so much in lp especialy at the world, enforce it correctly.eaither start official measurement,or get ALL THE MOH'S on the same page as far as the propper way to measure a dog.

and by the way,i am 375 and i ran circles around a guy 275 this weekend judgin,so :censored: ..................................

i have read all of these posts and have come to some conclusions, more like opinions, which you all know are like butts and noses, but here goes. Since there are hounds that exist that are over 15, and they are good rabbit hounds, make a format for 'em and RUN 'EM! I will hazard a guess right now that within 5 years the over 15 will be more popular than LP right now. Everyone right now runs in the same pot. If something BIGGER is created, everyone will eventually gravitate to the BIGGEST, to see the BIGGEST do what they know to do. It's human nature to want bigger, better, faster, greater. Those who master those emotions, however, are the most content, satisfied people around. BUT-there will always be people who are competitive for the biggest, greatest, etc. and i see no harm in setting up a class to see who has the best of the biggest. There's my butt and nose, what say you, Chad?
