BJK, Never once did I threaten you. I said to watch what you say and the reason is. You took my post and twisted it around, for what reason I don't have a clue. ''I just read a post by a judge who looked at Libby before the cast and thought that she didn't belong there. Was it because she was chubby or because he didn't recognize the dog or the owner. Not only did she win but she may be going into the Hall of Fame.''

Never once did I say she didn't belong there.

If you wanna kick my ass or whatever for that Im useually the only one with Missouri liscense plates at the big hunts. It wouldn't be the first time........lol

As for the anger managment issues Jimmy has some medicine.............LOL J/K ;)

as i read all this as a non-trialing "innocent" bystander who could care less about seeing who can spend the most money and go to the most trials per year just to chase trophies... its seems to me that the people who have the biggest problem with an oversize dog getting scratched are mostly from KY... and so was the "kid" who got his dog scratched. hmmmm??? and to think, sometimes i think maybe trialing would be fun... then i see a reality check like this and realize why i just run my beagles to relax.

we've got name calling, accusations of cheating, challenges  , and more name calling all because a dog was legitamitly measured out. this is better than the FOX REALITY CHANNEL!

I aint from Ky. I saw plenty of dogs that size ran at the World.Rules are rules, I just hate it for the kid.

As for the Ky comment Im from VA, but I got the KY boys back. Having said that I like most of the Ohio boys too. Its the ones from IL I cant stand.

Mr. Crabtree
I hope that was a joke. You guys will turn people off from coming to this site for comments like that one. I thought this site was for beagle information. Let's get back to the subject.

To get back on the topic of measuring hounds at trials I think the solution is an easy one.Measure all hounds before the trial begins,if your over 15" your out.If attendence go down,so be it.The rules don't need changing they need enforcing.

What I think really doesn't matter .If a dog is too big I have a right to protest, but I would rather just beat him, and show that size doesn't bother old JAKE any at all. most over 15 dogs can't hold a line ,and if you put those dogs in thick cover ,they anit worth a crap.jake is very fast but my smaller female in the thick stuff will put the hurt on him.So bring on the half foxhounds and lets run.

I posted not in reference to the World. I dont know either one of the guys. I just say cut them loose and let the best dog win. As far as getting too tough on size keep in mind that trialing in its purest interpretation is conducted in order to better the breed. By promoting the hounds with the most ability. There are numerous hounds out there today thats heritage can be traced back to hounds that were promoted with success and whose heights would extend well above the 15" mark. Ex. Turbo Powered by Prop (sorry Swing), never saw the dog in person but have been told by reputable people that watched him run and or bred to him that said he was a monster. Haunted Hills Shaker (guess here but he is huge in photos) etc. The list could truely go on. Not to start an arguement but just think if these hounds were not promoted. Just food for thought.

This is a good discussion. Its good to see what everyones opinions are on the subject. But one truth in this is if you are worried about the dogs height at a casting stake you may want to consider if one you have enough hound to be there to begin with.

BlackDirt, Tony should give you a free breeding or a pup. "innocent bystander" LOL.....

I've had very limited experience with the world of trialing. I've probably been to about 20 little pack trials over the past four years or so- so obviously I'm nobody in the world of beagle trialing. However, I have seen Mr. Upton at about 3/4 of the hunts I've participated in, and been judged by him on more than one occasion. In fact we were fortunate enough to win the first hunt I attended at his home club in Chillicothe with an old grade dog that a buddy had given to us. Based upon my experience I feel that Mr. Upton has been a credit the sport of beagling and has always judged me fairly. I'm sure he's made mistakes like the rest of us, but we all know what happened to the man that made no mistakes. It's just unbelievable that he's taken this amount of bashing over the computer by doing something that IS COMPLETELY WITHIN THE RULES OF THE COMPETITION that everyone's dogs are supposed to be held to.

PS - I'm from THE GREAT STATE OF KENTUCKY.

Measure them all prior to going to the field!!
