the earlier contender model had and adjustable trigger on it, the g2 model was made without one. the barrels are interchangeable on them except for the muzzleloader barrel for the contender.. the hand grips are NOT interchangeable on the contenders and g2s... the g2s were made with a different angle on them. im not sure if any of the g2 models came out with engraving on them or not but the early model contenders had engraving on the sides. mine for instance has a cougar on both sides....

+ one as bluecollar said.
plus the forearms are interchangable according to the barrel lengths
and the old one, if you pull the hammer back and didn't shoot and let the hammer down,
you have to break open the barrel to re-cock the hammer
the g2, you do not have to break the barrel open to re-cock the hammer, the reason for the different grip angle.

I've had several old frames and an encore frame in the past
and currently have a g2. I personally like the g2 the best.
With the different grip angle, your hand is less likely to
hit the rear of the trigger guard when the gun goes off.
I'm not too worried about the trigger pull as I'm just shooting
a .410 barrel.
Hope the info helps,

R.D.

thanks for the info. I have just picked up a contender and it has a adjustable trigger, so it must be the old model. I would like to get a set of rubber grips also a 45/410 barrel for rabbits. I now know what to buy.
thanks, Dave

the hammer issue if you dont shoot agravates me more then anything on my contender but i can deal with it i guess. the g2 is probably alittle better built but you should expect it with a newer version... both are still nice guns.

i have a ambidextrious grip with the rubber on the backside if your interested... the only thing is i dont have the bottom piece of the handle that takes the 3 woodscrews... this is how i bought it. i had one given to me a few weeks ago identical and i dont need two of them. neither one of them had the end piece on them but you dont need them, its just cosmetic anyway.if your interested let me know and i ll send you some pics.

Thanks for the info fellas! So pretty much I can buy a 45/410 barrel in any length for the original TC contender or the G2 and the barrel will fit my original with engraving and the adjustable trigger! I just have to make sure to get the appropriate forearms for the new barrel length or are some of them going to fit multiple barrels? Man I love contenders!!!! What have you guys had to give $ for your contenders.
