To Shoot or Not to Shoot

I have Mossberg Model 835 Ulti-Mag in 12 gauge. It has a ported 24 inch barrel and clearly says "not for use with slugs" on it. However, the person I got it from had put a choke like sleeve in it which he said made it possible to use as a slug gun. He even put a scope on it and killed deer.

What say you? Is this wise, safe or practical?

I wouldn't shoot it. If it clearly states "Not for use with slugs" then why risk it, just get an inexpensive slug barrel for it.
