Introducing my pack

Post by beaglesmom »

Hello, I'm Glenda and live in eastern Washington state with 9 beagles, all are "pets", but I also have 2 very special furkids from LONG lines of field champions. They are expecting their 2nd litter later this month. Both of the sire's parents are IFC and he has an incredible pedigree with MANY Field and International Field Champions in 5 generations. The dam's breeder didn't hunt - her dogs were also pets - but both her parents have impressive pedigrees as well - I went from WA to NY to pick her up when she was old enough to travel. Both parents are beautiful - (I'm prejudiced), and make wonderful, loving babies. However, for this litter I've asked a friend to take a puppy (or 2) and train them to do what beagles are bred to do - hunt, and hopefully to get a little FC from one of them ;) . The sire is a small beagle, the dam is a little larger, but still not huge by any means. The two males I have from their first litter are about 20 and 25#.
In addition to Santana and JoJo, I also have Princess (7) - my first ever beagle, and the start of my love affair with this wonderful breed, Romeo (6) , purchased as a "mate" for Princess, Chloe(6), a gift from a lady who couldn't keep her, Chloe is the light of my life, a tiny girl who is more bonded with me than any dog I've ever had in my 68 years, Lottie (5), who is the tiny offspring of show champions, and was a rescue, Joe and Jack (1 1/2), the offspring of JoJo and Tanna, and the baby, Bella, the offspring of Lottie and Tanna. Of the "9-pack", only JoJo (Joe's Crescent Moon), Tanna (Mojave Desert Santana), and Bella (My Little Bella Angel), are intact. Since Lottie (Ladmar's Whole Lotta Trouble) was so small, she had to have a c-section - so she was spayed, Bella will hopefully be able to continue that line. I don't "breed" to make money - I do it because I love doing it - and because JoJo and Tanna have such wonderful pedigrees, they're well worth continuing! JoJo is 3 and this may well be her last litter. ALL these dogs are pets, and all are cherished, I'm extremely "fussy" about who buys my pups - this area is NOT "beagle country", labs and border collies are the breeds of choice here. My dogs and puppies get the very best care I can give them - and I like to think I'm a RESPONSIBLE breeder.
Deb started this forum when I joined - so if you have "pets", I'd love to chat with you.
Glenda
I co-manage a "beagle group" on MSN - and I've certainly learned a lot there, but the group is composed of pet owners only - I'd like to learn a little more about field trials - and what goes into making a real champion!

Glenda, you should post pics of your dogs. They are a good-lookin' bunch, and welcome to the board!

Thank you, Buddy. I'm glad to be here - even if I am just a crazy "old beagle lady". I'd love to post pictures of my "kids", but am not how to do it here.

All of mine are pets and hunting dogs.
Both jobs seem to come naturally to them.

We had 4 pups whelped 4/22 and 4/23. 1 small male - survived only 4 days - even helping feed him. 1 was born dead - had a large hole in her head - small female was no. 3 and is surviving, again, helping feed her - No. 4 - larger male - survived 3 days - dam rolled over and laid on him. I'm having keyboard problems and a very common le__er (can you guess which one) is broken - so hard figuring how I can replace words :hammer: Anyway my small girl will be 4 weeks Sunday - and is doing very well. Spoiled - as she is "bo__le" fed and "supplemen_ed". So far so good! Was so hard losing 3 of 4 pups. Obviously none will be going away and being "_rained"!

Here's more of the pack:

These are "Tanna's kids" - Tamna is Mojave Desert Santana - both of his parents are IFC - with many other champions in his 5 generation research pedigree.

Image -Joe is on the left, Jack in center and Bella on right. Joe and Jack are siblings - and full brothers of the little "Angel". Bella is their half sister - her mother is a TINY beagle from show lines.

More later!
