2 Year Old Patch Male

Post by Swampman »

I have a 2 year old Patch male free to a youngster looking for a broke hound.
His only down fall is he doesn't have a good enough nose up here in the winter.

- 16" tall
- L&W
- Handles like a dream
- Average hunt
- Big bawl mouth
- Collar/tone broke
- Easy keeper, he is on a self feeder and eats like a bird
- Purebred, but no papers go with him

So Sorry, My understanding was, you were going to try the hound out on Drummond to make up your mind about keeping him or not. I thought I'd wait to see what you decided, and then learned you'd given him to your father after...so thought that was all for that?

Sorry, I snooze an loose again... :blackeye:

I didn't think you wanted him because of the lack of communication from you and actually thought you were po'd at me for some reason. Dad said he would take him, so I gave him to Dad.
My Dad is 72 years old and has some back problems, he has a hard time bending over and picking the big hound up to put him in the truck so I gave him one of my HammerxPearl pups to mess with.
He's always preferred female hounds anyways plus she is only going to be about 14"

The hound really has no issues and handles like a dream, so I thought giving him to a young kid would be good.
He runs great now, just not in the dead of winter for me.
IMHO, if they aren't good enough to breed as an idividual, they aren't good enough to keep. Chuck and Mike both have told me I'm too picky, but I am what I am.

No loss, like I told you last year, if you want him, he's yours.
Please let me know and I apologize for any confusion.

You'll have to check with Rick on the papers though, I do not have them.

Nice hound, I ran the crap out of him. Like Swamp said, not a winter running hound, and a little to competitive with the nose he "don't" have. Handles like all my hounds..leash free!! If anyone wants to see some video's of him running I'm sure I can scrounge up a couple.

Man, my boy has been wanting to get into rabbit hunting and if you were even remotely close to WV I would be on my way to pick him up. I have had and ran some dang good Patch hounds in my time and love the way that ole boy sure did keep his head up and pound away. I have been looking for some of my old blood and man it is sure hard to find. Shame on me for letting it slip away and not keep my blood here. I am envious that you are willing to give this hound away. I can't believe someone hasn't given him a home.

The rabbits in the ditch, The rabbits in the ditch, The rabbits in the ditch Chad.
I like that part
All joking aside guys this hound would be great for a young person or a older gentleman. Theres know way you can get a better handling hound, and go out and have some fun and kill a few rabbit. When your ready to leave theres no chasing and screaming.

I would like to have him and bet he would do good in these swamps after a BIG Canecutter which is practically all we run. I like his wanting the front. Cold weather nose not needed here. No Snow!
I'm 74 and run mostly with these grandsons instead of hunt. Any way to get him anywhere close to Alabama? You're too far for me to drive.
Thanks,
John

Thts an awesome video. The pack was doing good! But that patch male was doing a great job in the front end of the pack! We are coming up to sandusky, oh and back to shelbyville, ky the 1st week of May. If you can get him down to Sandusky, oh I would bring him down to shelbyville, Kentucky for Alabama and have someone pick him up here. If that helps.
