No shock collar needed, handles like a dream. This dog can run with most anything and will get plenty of checks. He works a check from the inside out. I have owned this dog for almost a year now and he gets better and better. I have a female that I'm going to concentrate on, that's why he is for sale. Good dog here guys. I had this dog at my house for three weeks to break him off deer and could not get him to run any deer for me. HE IS DEER PROOF !!!
