Fellas got to interject here on this post. I just bought a female off of Doug Varney in Michigan and did not see her run. Saw a picture, Doug described the dog exactly as is.
There are still some honest guys left when it comes to dogs. Needless to say the dog was just what Doug said. I have sold more than one dog off the box and folks knew what to
expect and got that. It is not hard to include as many details as you can recall. If you leave out the, oh by the ways, you might as well lie. JMO. I think something more folks should
do is give a reference on the quality of hounds they keep. Hunting partners, friends who have seen these hounds go. That just makes it more solid. Don't get me wrong, I like to try
dogs in a hunting environment. But, there are some guys still out there I would buy off of by reputation alone. My Dad just sold a coonhound for 1,000 $ off the chain. He gave a
list of 5 folks for the guy to call and reputation as an honest guy sold that hound. She will be just as described, a coon treeing machine, I have seen her go many times. I have several individuals I will buy on there word. The long distance sale can be a bit sketchy sometimes. Have the guy give you 3 references on his character and his hounds. If a guy does
that and you get the same story you are taking a better chance. Thanks much.

It ain't so much what they say but what they don't say sometimes. Folks call me all the time looking for a dog. I don't usually have a running dog for sale. But, I give them a list of things to ask a seller and advice as to what they should do in purchasing a running dog.
I will tell everyone..... if someone guarentees a hound not to run deer, you better get in the truck and look elsewhere as it is a hard promise to fullfill.

Re: watch out for Danny Crain 1-765-561-6523
I don't know either guy involved here but from rereading the first post all he said was that they never had run off game. Dogs act a lot different in different places. I know it is hard to be patient espacially buying dogs during hunting season but work with them if you are stuck with them. Even if you did watch them run before you bought them they are dogs not machines. I am not saying anyone is right or wrong and if I was in your shoes I would want a refund, but if he didn't tell you they were broke just that they hadn't run off game I wouldn't call him a liar either.

i don't want nobody mad at me,but a mans' word means allot you needed to try and ask around before you bought a dog off of somebody that far away he should have atleast given you a trial period i hate to say it but chalk it up as a lesson learned and maybe you can get a good one from someone else on the board there still is some honest people in the beagling business.

I have bought a dog off Danny and he told me faults in the dog. 3 to be exact and I have never seen any of them out of her.

Re: watch out for Danny Crain 1-765-561-6523
the good out of this post is over 1400 have looked at it. and if they buy a dog from danny they will try it before they pay good money for his dog
Re: watch out for Danny Crain 1-765-561-6523
Hey "M & M" maybe Danny's just getting his dogs confused ???????????
Re: watch out for Danny Crain 1-765-561-6523
I havent sold a dog where the buyer didnt ask if it had run deer. its yes, or no not yet, or not to my knowledge. I would never say a dog will not run a deer. Kind of silly to expect to take them back. No offense, but he doesnt know what you have done to the dogs. With 5 hours and 900 dollars, i would say start working to break them, but dont rip the next guy off, just to get your money back. If Danny knew than shame on him, but we dont know for sure he knew do we? Hate to just assume when we're talking bout a man's honesty.

Re: watch out for Danny Crain 1-765-561-6523
no one could do anything to them dogs to hurt them they need to be shot i ran with them and they will leave a rabbit for deer or fox they should never have been on the market for rabbit dogs because they are not rabbit dogs danny is a crook and liar plain and simple i would not be as nice as roger is being and any one on here taking up for him do you want to buy the dogs because you like him so much you need some of his crap at your house they will not be on the market again unless a man can find someone wanting to pay 5 times over top dollar for junk ass dogs
Re: watch out for Danny Crain 1-765-561-6523
If I sell a started dog or a running dog to anyone the deer question is always answered
yes it will probably run a deer if exposed to one aren't too many that wont run a deer but how easily can the be broke is the question I own only one that was born deer proof so far and she is now 8 but maybe tommorrow she might try one who knows

Re: watch out for Danny Crain 1-765-561-6523
i dont ever buy the story of "gee, they never ran deer for me, not sure what happened that they did it for you". thats BS plain and simple. if i get a dog from IN that "hasnt run deer" there is no reason they would do it here in IL. our deer dont smell extra good or anything. same goes for anywhere else. if you know your dogs, you can tell what they will or wont do. 1 year old dogs are a different story as they are still learning but with "finished" dogs you know if they will start a deer or if they will join in. ive got an older female, had her since she was 1 1/2. and she WONT start a deer and she WONT join in either. if there is a deer race she will come back to the "handlers" and tattle. of course thats just bureau county Illinois deer... now if i sell her to someone out of the county then oh yea
she would probably run them like a champ but appparently thats how it works according to people on this post
.
my last thought on selling a dog is just dont
lie... because your dogs wont.
as for people sticking up for their buddies when deals go bad... charlie mansons buddies stuck up for him and said how nice of guy he was...lol. i just watched the special on the history channel!! some of the nicest guys will stick you the worst if they get a chance. i got a super nice 2 year old a few years ago from a good buddy. he said "oh yea, i had to deer break her when she was 1 but she is BROKE now". got her for $500 and she was one of the best rabbit dogs i ever saw run but would quit a rabbit to run deer, coyote or fox...lol. you could max out a shocker on her and 5 minutes later she would find another deer. i sold her to an akc pen trialer for $1050. and he placed her a lot and loved her and i was honest to him. as for the guy i got this female from... he got nice (and expensive) male from me later on that would aslo smoke a deer... so what comes around goes around, but even a nice guy will sick you on ocassion.

Re: watch out for Danny Crain 1-765-561-6523
Sorry guys, but you're wrong. I've seen 7 and 8 year old hounds that have never ran junk in their lives and had turned it down on several occasions, decide to up and run it one day. They're dogs, they're not perfect and they will do stupid stuff on occasion, Idon't care how good they are and how broke I think they are, I would never gaurantee one broke. I have a couple that I think would never run one, but I wouldn't gaurantee it. I don't know what was said during this deal, but I know Danny, and he's always seemed honest to me, and I've dealt with him several times.
Dry Creek Kennel-Bred to get it done where it counts the most "under the gun".
