I'm Wanting to know if anyone has a show champion that is also a field champion, and whats the breeding?

Not a lot out there YET
Has not been Done in AKC in a Lot of years Unless you also Count bench Champions!!!
There are a few out there in UKC that are Show(ring) Bench and field Champions In the UKC Hunting beagle Format I think Dan (touchstone on the boards) may have one.
We have a couple that are Ring and bench Champions with placements in UKC field Arha Field and Akc Spo BUT still aint quite there yet as far as Field!!!

Actually, there was an AKC dual champion just a few years ago (Pebble Ridge Shadrack, I think was his name). He was not real dual quality, though, in my opinion.

Thank you for the information, sounds like we need to work a little harder. TC you are correct that Dan has a nice duel UKC champion, but I'm not sure Dan's dog is AKC registered. ( Dan will correct me if I'm wrong) I've ran with his dog and it is the real deal. I currently have two dogs with AKC show wins, and my female is a UKC show champion. she is just 2 1/2 years old, I think she make a field champion in UKC in the near future. I also have an 8 month old out of my female, and Lanbur Jenco Chip that is showing alot of promise. The biggist problem that I see with show breeding is that they need more mouth in the field, all my dogs have some show bloodlines, and all have alot of hunting desire but are alittle tight mouthed which hurts them in the field trials at times. Just my observation. Would like to here your thoughts.

What's winning the bench shows at ARHA wouldn't stand a chance at an AKC show and neither would what's winning the bench at UBGF. Back in the 40's things were different.

It would be interesting to see some photos of the dual champions of that era.

Ok What about those Dogs that ARE placing in AKC/UKC Show Rings that Are also Placing on the bench They are out there ya know!!!!!!

If you click on the link that Leah has there for AKC, most of the dual champions listed, you can click on their name and see a photo. Kind of interesting to see what has changed.... and what hasnt.

The head is nice on the Amawalk Link. I wish all of my hounds had a head like that.

My Lady female is a GR on the bench and a HBCH in UKC. She also has points in the UKC show ring. Once she has her pups she will be headed back to the UKC show ring along with going to the AKC show ring.

or you can do some research to find shows where there are no entries, take a bunch of your field-bred hounds, and make a dual champion out of the best looking one in the bunch without ever defeating a show-bred hound.....It's all in how you play the game.....

Perky is gone now and in my humble Opinion he at least got it done. Some of the hunting dogs I've seen are good enough to finish in AKC bench shows but, nobody ever makes the effort. The dog may have not been typical show quality but, he went around the ring (saw with my own eyes) and was acceptable besides he was a field Ch. Credit where credit is due is how I feel about it.

has placements in ARHA Field and Bench and needs just one best male for his UKC CCH Settling Downin his running style now So maybe in Midwest Spo next year he has another AKC show this wekkend so hopefully Will start getting his Points soon And if he keeps Going we will see yall at Aldie next year also......
