Leah, I never said anything about spaying a female that has a puppy with a bad bite. The genetic flaw was passed down from a previous generation. Possably from the pup's sire side. It would be rediculous to spay the female. The point was not breeding dogs that have disquallified bites and it seems we agree on this. As for the litter that had bites that straitened up as they matured. Lends support to the theory that the lower jaw grows slower. Different bloodlines within the same breed mature differently. It was smart to keep the pups until they matured. Some do grow out of it, some do not, so we can not guarantee the bite will correct as the dog matures based on the theory. That is why a judge judging a puppy should judge the dog based on its strengths/merits according to the standard on the given day. Not based on how the judge feels the dog will be when it is mature. I agree. Judge them on the DAY you see them. The one bad thing about the puppies who's bites did come around is that if these bitches now have puppies that have bad bites as youngsters... Do I have to WAIT on all of them? I don't want to be put in the position that I have to keep full litters for 5 months or more so, we'll see. I just bred the first of these girls so, I guess I'll know soon. The point was not breeding dogs that have disquallified bites and it seems we agree on this.
