Bush said the war may take generations.
Obama said, I have defeated Al Qaeda
On Thursday’s The Kelly File, Megyn Kelly aired what she termed a “frighteningly accurate” 2007 prediction by President Bush about Iraq, if U.S forces were withdrawn before “our commanders tell us we are ready”:
“[It] would mean surrendering the future of Iraq to al Qaeda. It would mean that we’d be risking mass killings on a horrific scale.
It would mean we’d allow the terrorists to establish a safe haven in Iraq to replace the one they lost in Afghanistan.
It would mean increasing the probability that American troops would have to return at some later date to confront an enemy that is even more dangerous.”
Of course, as history will record, President Obama did just that in 2011; he ordered a complete withdrawal of all U.S. forces from Iraq – against the advice of his military commanders. So how frighteningly accurate were Bush’s predictions?
While George Bush could not have foreseen the rise of ISIS in 2007, its brutality eclipses that of even al Qaeda.
Not only has ISIS conducted mass executions, it posts videos and images on social media to underline its brutality.
It has carved out a “Caliphate,”encompassing a large swath of land stretching through large parts of Iraq and Syria.
In addition to ordering airstrikes, Obama has reintroduced troops into Iraq – this week increasing the total to 1,000 or more.
Now, Americans from across the political spectrum are calling for the U.S. to take the war against ISIS to Syria – by a 4-1 margin.
The reality is this: It will be debated “forever” whether George Bush should have taken the war on terror to Iraq in the first place. But facts are facts; that is the hand that Barack Obama was dealt.
The question is, should Obama’s opposition to the war have played into that hand of cards?
Did his “play” – hasty withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq without leaving a contingency behind – facilitate the crisis we, and the world, now face?
Forward! Osama is dead, bring home the troops. The oceans are receding. I have healed the planet, now I can play golf for two years.

Holder Aide Accidentally Calls Issa's Office for Help in Spinning IRS Scandal, Nets Don't Report
An aide to Eric Holder, who thought he was calling Democratic congressman Elijah Cummings’ office for help on leaking documents to selected reporters, accidentally spilled the beans of the latest IRS spin job because he called House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa’s office instead.
This newest twist in the IRS targeting scandal, that broke Tuesday night, was not covered on ABC, CBS or NBC’s Wednesday morning shows.
According to Issa, the documents in question were related to Andrew Strelka - the former Lois Lerner employee that the committee demanded be turned over to them for questioning last week.
This isn’t the first time Cummings has been tied to the targeting scandal. In April it was revealed that Cummings office “communicated with the IRS multiple times between 2012 and 2013 about voter fraud prevention group True the Vote.” Back in March, Cummings’ shoutfest with Issa temporarily broke the network embargo on IRS scandal coverage.
On September 9, The Hill reported the following:
The administration official calling House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa’s (R-Calif.) office last week had an odd request.
Could the Justice Department get some help leaking information about the IRS’s scrutiny of conservative groups? asked Brian Fallon, a top spokesman for Attorney General Eric Holder.
Apparently thinking he had reached the office of Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings (Md.), Fallon said the department wanted congressional staffers to get documents to selected reporters so that officials could comment on them “before the majority” did.
