Welcome Doc. Always glad to see posters who think for themselves, even if it may be a different POV than mine. Fiscally conservative with limited government based upon Christian values that grants freedom to every citizen is at the core of what I believe our forfathers had intended this country to be. Sadly those virtues have become buried in greed, selfishness, and dependency to the point that those that hold them dear are ridiculed as haters of men, women, children, and the elderly while being racist bigots according to left winged nut jobs like Rufus Stewart. He claims that this is the greatest president in history and how well the economy, job growth, and healthcare are while at the same time criticizing the Republican House for keeping the terrible economy down by not signing off on every piece of legislation that Obama puts on the table. I have never seen him ridicule a democrat, and the only way I can see that happening is if one voted for Republican legislation. You are correct in your assessment above and how ironic it is that the Republican party has become labelled as racists and elitist when everyone knows these things were brought into politics by the Democratic Party. The nature of being conservative keeps us from screaming from a hilltop in Pineville, KY while left winged activists are loud, persistant and lack any descent moral values to prevent them from lieing. You're new here and you too shall soon see. Our arrogance leads us to believe that as a country we are blazing a brave new trail, while the reality is we are headed for the same demise as many before us. There is no utopia, only the best we can do, and I fear the best we can do has come to pass.Doc Olly wrote:Hello!
I'm new here but I have to admit I do enjoy a good debate.........
With that being said I have to say that I somewhat agree with both of you.
In my humble opinion the GOP has lost it's direction! Remember the GOP was the party of fiscal conservatives, limited government and christian values. The republicans freed the slaves, the republicans balanced the economy. MLK Jr was a rebublican. However, that is not the case today. Today the faces of the republican party are that of Rush Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter and Donald Trump.
Basically, and again in my humble opinion the Democrats have "out-politicked" the Repubs, hands down and now the GOP is playing scramble to find it's way. Ever since LBJ signed the voting Rights Act of 1964 he convinced whites and blacks to vote as Dems. Which amazes me because before that the Dems were the most racist and violent people. The Klan was founded by Dems. But my how things have changed. Now I;m not saying that current day Repubs are racists but they sure don't know how to connect with younger people and minorities, and that is the reason why Hillary will be our next president.
