On Sunday June 20th 2010 (Fathers Day) The Holmes Conservation & Beagle Club 221 Franklin St Holmesville Ohio, will be hosting the annual All American Youth Hunt.
This is a non licensed FUN hunt open to all kids 18 & younger, Its ran UKC hunting beagle format with a few changes, (NO ONE GETS SCRATCHED, & NO CHECKS) it is an elimination style hunt and we do place the top 10 handlers, usually we have enough donated trophies for everyone. We also have Lil Tykes casts for ages 6 & under.
Then in the afternoon we hold a SHOWMENSHIP ONLY bench show where the kids are judged by a panel of judges (usually 1 adult from each club present) on HOW THEY HANDLE a dog NOT what dog they handle. In this the kids are broken down in age groups and a boy & girl from each age class will be chosen to show for the OVERALL Showmenship handler award.
Then with money donated by Clubs, Kennels and organizations we hold a HUGE (FREE) Raffle with everyone winning something, most years 2 to 3 prizes each.
On saturday June 19th the HCBC is also holding a Licensed Preformance Pack hunt, We encourage everyone coming to this to bring a child (or 2....) and bring your tent , camper, ect for a overnight campout for the Youth hunt. If you don't have a tent just bring your sleeping bag the club will be open for anyone wishing to stay inside.
On Sat night we will be having a Bon Fire/ Weenie roast , Don't forget your fishing poles as we also have 2 nice ponds to fish in.
Anyone (Clubs or Kennels) wishing to donate to this Great weekend can make checks payable to: HCBC/YOUTH HUNT and mail to Scott Fluhart 7762 Cutter Rd. Fredericksburg, Oh 44627
Many have commented that this is the BEST HUNT OF THE YEAR.
Hope to see ya all there,

This a good event for all kids, doesnt matter what dogs are registered in,they are all welcome. The kids really enjoy their self. Everybody wins something. Some families come the night before and camp and fish. Bring your kids or grand kids out for a day of fun. Its all free for them so thats why donations are so important. Hoping for a good turn out again this year.

The kids just need to know the basic Bench show procedure, Gate your dog, keep it between you and the judge, Show the bite, and stack the dog the best it can. Maybe answer a few questions that the judge may ask. The panel judges do NOT hear this it's just for the kids learning. We do have a ring judge who tells the kids what he wants them to do, but he has NO SAY in the out come. Our judge this year(Dan Mazalic) MAY still be in a wheelchair.

The New River Beagle club from Va. made a donation to this great event. If your club has an extra $25.00 dollars or so in your bank account then try to help out this club and event. It's for the KIDS!!!!!

Jim, Thanks for the donation, if hunters would see these kids hunting and catching their dogs. The look on their faces when they see the rabbitt. Its priceless. The bench show as well, they try so hard, and the biggest smiles you ever saw when they get a trophy. The great thing is they all win something, there are no losers.

Thanks Vicky, you said it all "PRICELESS"
Sanford, Tell your lil girl there is absolutley NOTHING to be nervous about. We had a Lil Girl last year that was so nevous before the hunt that she was crying, She drew out in my son's cast so I had a chance to talk to her and calm her down..... She kicked butt, then went on to win the WHOLE thing. Watching her go from nervious tears to ALL SMILES at the end of the day makes this hunt worth while and the BEST HUNT OF THE YEAR. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Electric is limited and not really any water hookups ( unless you 150' of hose) but I can get a generator or 2 if needed. We will do whatever it takes to make sure these kids have FUN.
