Homer Beagle Club Benefit Hunt 5/22/10

Post by Nate Butler »

The Homer Beagle Club is putting on a benefit hunt for one of our members Gary Hughes. Gary found out in February that he has a brain tumor and has been driving to Ann Arbor 5 days a week for treatment. To help Gary and his family with the travel expenses and the time the family has missed from work we are turning our May 22nd Little Pack hunt into a benefit hunt. All the money that the club makes from this hunt will giving to Gary and his family. Our goal is to hunt at least 100 dogs on Saturday. We are also having a little pack hunt on Sunday so anyone that wants to travel up can hit two hunts on the same weekend! We having been getting several donation and will have some great prizes to raffle away dog houses, leashes, collars and if we can get enough donation we are going to try and get a shock collar or gamin tracking system. I will post the complete list of prizes once we get closer to the hunt.

For those of you that have been wanting to try a Little Pack hunt or for the people that have been wanting to get down to Homer to run this would be a great chance for you to come and help support a GREAT family. If any of you would like to make a donation to help Gary please contact me at nate@pcsmichigan.com or 517-617-3840. All checks will need to be made to the Homer Beagle Club with "benefit" listed for the memo. If any of you have any other ideas on how we can make this hunt bigger and better please let me know you ideas.

Hope to see everyone there and please let all of your friends know about this hunt!

Thanks
Nate Butler

Mapes it cost 18.00 to single register but if you go out and help me judge a cast I will give you the money for judging which is 20.00. It will be worth it to me watching you run for one hour straight. I will put you at Leach's Grandma's they usually run small circle there this time of year!

Big Rufus thanks for coming down and helping the club we have a hunt on the 16th of May as well.

The hunt on Saturday and Sunday are both Little Pack hunts. We are just talking any money that the clubs makes from the hunts and giving the money to the Gary and his Family. We hope to have some great prizes as well to give away.

I will have to check on the camping but my house is just up the road and I am sure I can find a place for your camper.

Anyone know who is planning on coming down for the hunts yet?

We are getting lots of donations to the club from local places and family members. We have enough food to feed the town. A local farmer has donated a hog so we will be having Pork sandwiches for lunch and dinner along with sloppy Joe's, Mac salad, baked beans, cheese potato's, chips and for a snacks we have cake, cookies and home made brownies. For breakfast we have pancakes, biscuit and gravy, sausage, coffee, milk and juice. Plus I am sure I forgot some things that are going to be there it eat.

As far as the prize they are adding up fast. For sure we have a Owens diamond plate dog box to give away to the winner. I would like to give one away each day if we can get the people to come and help this family. We have plenty of things to give away in the raffle collar, leashes, dog food, diamond plate tool box. I will update a detailed list in the next couple of weeks.

Who is all coming Rich Timms, James Golden, Mike and Leon Patton, Dave H, Shawn G, Gaige, Rob, Tim, Tom M, Rick Wells. Please come on help support this family guys I have a ton of new people coming to try little pack and we have a ton of things to raffle off and give away to the winners.

Thanks Big Rufus for attending the hunts and the kind words about the club. If you were talking straight shooting then you have not seen a couple of guys shoot at geese and ducks, or seen them shoot with a monter buck standing in front of them! lol

As far as you help be care what you ask for I talked with Leon Wednesday night and Bufford seems to have some plans for you on Saturday night! I will post details later but I thought I would let you worry for a while!!!

UPDATE

Homer Beagle Club
Benefit Hunt
May 22nd and 23rd

The prizes for the Benefit Hunt will be rewarded as follows.

Overall Two Day Winner:
The overall two day winner will be the Open, Champion or Grand that places the best for the two day combined. You must have at least one category win either on Saturday or Sunday. If a dog wins a category both days that dog will be the overall two day winner. If two or more dogs win a category both days the most cast wins will be the tie breaker. If no dog wins a category both days the dog with one category win and the most cast wins for the two days will be your overall winner. The overall winner will receive a brand new Owens dog box with top storage.

Saturday night run off:
The three dogs that win the open, champions, and grand class will be invited to run off on Saturday the 22nd after the hunt is over. The cast will run for 1 hour with ARHA rules and the winner will receive a brand new G3 Classic 70 training system. During the run off there will be food and beverages for the spectators. After the run off anyone wishing to run there dogs will be able to turn loose for a few hours of running, food, drinks, and what most do best telling stories!

There will be an extra prize for the runner up for the overall two day if we get more then 150 dogs entered in the two days.

If we hunt 100 dogs or more on Saturday the winner of category that make the run off Saturday night will receive a prize as well.

We are also giving a discount to the people who single register a dog on Saturday. If you single register a dog on Saturday and come back to hunt on Sunday with that same dog you will receive a discount on your entry fee on Sunday for that dog.

We are trying to give away as much as possible without taking away from the money we are raising for this family with your help. If we get the turn out we are expecting I can see the extra prizes needed for sure.

The raffle will have some great prizes in it as well. I will try to post the complete raffle list the week before the hunt. I know the raffle for sure will have a new G3 Classic 70 training system, hats, dog food, leashes, collars, and much more.
