This is a good place to inform fellow hunters about bills and other legislation that may jeopardize our rights to hunt and free cast our hounds.

Dear Brother and Sister sports persons:

As the communications officer for the Indian Beagler’s Alliance I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the fenced deer hunting meetings to be held by the indnr. We as the alliance are supporting the fenced hunting issue. You may ask yourself why? I submit to you that the men and women that raise deer for the preserves and those that hunt deer should have the same opportunity to do so as we do to run our dogs. They are asking us to help. The Deer preserves may or may not be your choice to hunt. But there are those that need this opportunity. It is my stance that “should we not” stand our ground. Should we fail is this issue. It will send a message to the DNR that at any time they may choose to add more and more restrictions on all of us. This has been the disturbing trend for better than 16 years. It appears that the states position on most things is conservation minded. Meaning, they desire only numbers of game to the exclusion of the sporting people that utilize them. Having said this, how would you feel were the DNR to make unfair and restricting limitations on dogs, Deer hunting, bird hunting and fishing? All with the intent of eliminating it by the year 2015? I think you would raise up in arms. The hue and cry would be tremendous. Yet we would stand by and let our state close by regulation and fees an industry.
Yes I hear your thoughts right now. Its not fair to the deer I wouldn’t hunt in a pen. Why in Gods name would you support such an issue? That is NOT the issue! I would no more suggest that you have to hunt that way than to have some one telling us we couldn’t run dogs or hunt the Wild heard of deer! Remember, that the Anti Hunting movement is out to eliminate our sporting opportunities. ALL of them. This is just one more, small step, on an emotional issue. One that is appealing to some of our own sportsmen and women. Not all of our sport minded people can walk the fields to hunt, to fish, many are handicapped and physically challenged. Yet we would restrict them in this manor? Were it not for Bird hunting preserves and pay fishing ponds or lakes, many of our less fortunate people would not have the opportunity to take a fish, a deer or a bird. The Alliance believes strongly in fair chase and supports such limitations on fenced hunting. Don’t be fooled by one issue. Take a stance. Make your decision on fact and reason and not emotions and what you feel you would do. Consider all the issues and then respond. Can you see yourself in a wheel chair wanting to hunt and not being able to? Maybe crippled with arthritis and yet you still have the desire to hunt and then being denied such opportunity? Not going to happen to me you say?? I said the same thing and now I know better. You see I am handicapped. Some day maybe you will be too. Please consider all the possibilities. Please don’t let emotions rule!

The second meeting on this Issue will be: Tuesday, June 14, 6:00-8:00pm: Chain O'Lakes S.P. (Noble County) Please attend but, if you can not attend please e-mail the Alliance at mailto:indianbeaglresalliance@yahoo.com or Bill at mailto:tallwind@yahoo.com we will be sure to get your letter(s) to the meetings.

the same groups that opposed our dog training on state lands and then supported Fish and Wildlifes attempts to add private land to it are the ones opposing the hunting preserves. And i know some of you are wondering why support an issue thats not one of our own. stop and think about it for just a while..... its only a drop of ink from a law that makes 8 ft fences illegal to a law that makes 4ft fences illegal. with the same groups opposing both of us where do you think they will head next after the hunting preserves. Also the preserves, trapping, and even bow hunting is now considered the low hanging fruit to the antis..... we are not far behind on the list.

please no matter where you live send IDNR an email and tell them to allow hunting preserves, grandfather the existing operations into any new rules they set forth, property rights of the individual is so important, and no sunset clause.......

fencedhunting@dnr.in.gov

thanks
