MITCH DANIELS...Indiana's next Governor
INDIANA BEAGLER'S ALLIANCE annnounces its full support for MITCH DANIELS FOR GOVERNOR OF INDIANA.
Rodney Perdew webmaster for http://www.indianabeaglersalliance.org the alliance website ask on our message board what MITCH DANIELS could do for indiana Beagler's, hunters, and gun owner's that current governor Joe Kernan couldn't....... below is our answer.
Wow, wonderful question Rodney. and one that I will enjoy answering. And the answer lies completely in not what Mitch Daniels can do that joe kernan can't, but in what Mitch Daniels is willing to and will do that Joe Kernon either won't do or is unwilling to do.
Mitch Daniels is strongly on the side of the 2nd Amendment and gun owner rights. He has said he will defend our right to own guns.
Joe Kernan has a proven tract record of trying to destroy 2nd Amendment rights.
As mayor Kernan declared handguns to be the cause of violent crimes. He advocated exploring any and all options to eliminate the ownership of handguns
Kernan's Police force admitted keeping a secret and illegal list of gun owners.
guns were banned from gun shows on Kernans watch. City-run convention center illegally banned guns at gun shows. only pictures could be shown. that action cost the city $408.000 in lawsuits.
Kernan signed controversial anti-gun ordinance
The Mitch Daniels Camp has already come forward with support of sportsmen, sporting dog and dog owner rights and has even incorperated dog friendly issues into their platform. Also the Daniels folks have been very prompt in answering each and every concern the alliance has communicated to them along with rapid responses to all our members and supportes who had questions.
In contrast, not one communication that the Alliance has sent to Kernan has ever been answered by him. His people merely pass it off to IDNR and rubber stamp their response. EVEN THE LETTER TO KERNAN THAT ASK FOR HIS PERSONAL RESPONSE AS TO HOW HE IS GOING TO HANDLE A RUNAWAY IDNR IF ELECTED GOVERNOR WAS SENT TO JOHN DAVIS, DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF IDNR TO ANSWER. Joe Kernan has made it perfectly clear that sportsmens rights are not high on his agenda.

ill just tell ya the facts patch.....
Hey there patch how ya doing..... i'm not going to try to convince you my friend I will just tell you what actually transpired and you can make your mind up.
Mitch Daniels needed to divest himself of his interest in the power company IPALCO. because he was asked by President Bush to serve his country as economic advisor and did not want anything that even remotely looked like a conflict of interest.
When the idea of selling to the out of state power company came up IPALCO was offered the out of state company shares as an even trade, and the out of state companies shares were worth $25.00 per share compared to $15.00 per share for IPALCO's. Mitch Daniels insisted that before any sale be made that an independant consulting firm be used to insure the sale was in IPALCO's Best interest. It was the judgement of the independant consultants that the sale was indeed best for IPALCO. The IPALCO board of directors voted unanamously to sell IPALCO to the out of state company. Later stock market values fell and have not fully recovered yet. Now heres where this all gets interesting. When the sale was done in 2001 there was one person who had not only the authority but the responsiblity to watch dog the sale of a monopoly such as IPALCO . that person was the LT. Governor of the state of Indiana....one Joe Kernan.... and in the last four years Indiana has lost over 100,000 jobs but Kernan doesn't want to talk about that. The fact is that Kernan has been down in the last 8 polls and his folks are desperately trying to revive his chances.
now there is one more important aspect to the money from the sale of IPALCO stock.......MITCH DANIELS DONATED EVERY PENNY OF THE MONEY FROM THE SALE TO CHARITIES.....He didnt make anything from the sale.
I hope this clears up some of the mudslinging Mr. Kernan's folks are so good at doing.

How much money did Daniels recieve???
What charities did Daniels donate to???
If he is elected, is he for deregulating Indiana Utilities/cost=supply & demand. It's worked so well in California...
I can't help but believe he owes this Co. a big favor for taking IPL off his hands...
So many questions/so little time...Patch

as you know patch i cant answer the questions you ask for the most part. all i know about the sale of his stock was that he donated it to his church and other charities.....im not sure its any of my buisness which ones it was.
i am wonder here, patch, since there are some things i dont know about what went on. Did Mitch Daniels own Indiana Power and Light, or did he just own a bunch of stock in the company? I know you are much more well versed than i in the situation.
jack.

more questions than answers....lol
patch im wondering about a lot of what you say. i know you were somewhat on the inside, but i also know sometimes things are not as they look or as we would want them to look. for instance....
Does one have to own stock in a company to understand what happened after the fact....?
As far as selling stock is concerned... this may sound cold to you, but if i owned stock in a company.....whether i bought that stock and had my money invested in it... or got some of it as stock options for the job i was doing for the company....when it came time to sell, i would sell. and in this situation its my understanding that Daniels sale was merely a part of the whole, and certainly was his perrogative to do so.
Now this inventory thing.... i have seen stupid actions here at good ole' RR Donnelley also. recent merger and i watched good employees walked out the door in a downsizing... and then brought back in as "consultants" for twice what they were earning...lol. and thousands of dollars of spare parts and misc. stock just thrown in the dumpster so the plant wouldnt look cluttered when the CEO came to visit... these type descions are made by middle management type supervisors and ill bet yours was also. The is also times when its less expensive to keep things than to get rid of them.... it doesnt make it easy on the guy on the floor, but its part of a bigger picture.
As for the profit Mitch made.... its still seems to me hard to make a case for fraud, or not caring when the money was not kept by himself... and i do disagree with you on whos stock it was... it was not the retirees, or widows,or the other stock holders... the stock he sold was his. Do you really think anyone who was closely involved with the sale of the company could have forseen what was going to happen.?????
and as i have told some in the Daniels camp... We are trusting they will keep their word.... if they dont maybe there will be a better democrate to chose from next time. Kernan sure aint it....lol
later my friend... know none of what im saying is meant to be mean spirited, just commenting on what i think..

Hey Jack rabbit, This is my understanding. It was not a problem that he had stock or sold it. The problem was he was one of those responsible for making the decision to sell a very profitable company to a bankrupt company plus they locked down the employees options and excercised theirs. Thus the retirees lost what they had invested when the new bankrupt company liqudated the assets of IPL. IPL had millions if not billions in assets so why would you sell the company to another company that could not even manged itself well enough to keep their head above water. Oh by the way I think Mitch is the lesser of the 2 evils we had to chose from. I have heard that some employees had as much as $400,000 prior to the sell and after the sell they had more like $12,000. I hope the company I work for makes better decisions than that but , this is America where the big guys only look out for themselves. Examples include United Airlines and Enron just to name 2. Something to consider and chew on. If I am wrong feel free to let me know. Paul

dont bank on that either...lol
Paul.... i work for RR Donnelley and sons we are. or rather, they are the worlds largest printing company. I see things going on every month that is short sighted and executive management slanted. The employees are now efectively paying 100% of the medical. RRD is self insured and the new "shared costs" are as great or greater than anything they will end up paying out. Now thats a new concept. corporate profits off employee "benefits". I guess the point if was making about Mitch Daniels is that its hard for me to believe that one person single handled destroyed the company.... actually as i understand it enron was part of the problem here too. folks got scared of utility type stocks with so much scandal going on and the price dropped like a rock. I guess its a bit late to debate any of it at this point. Lets just watch, and get active, and see what Mr. Daniels can do for our state and our sport.

oh come on patch... change is hard, but it aint all that bad
dont forget the total finacial mess our state was in when Mitch Daniels took over. And we could not and can not continue to spend millions and billions of dollars of money we simply didnt have. There are cuts being made in every section of our state government so we can once again have a state with a balanced budget. Maybe some of you dont remember, but a little over 16 years ago when the Dems. took the reigns of the govenorship we were one of the few states that boasted not only a balanced budget, but millions of dollars in a rainy day fund. The reason Mitch Daniels was elected was due to the destruction of our economy and the millions in the rainy day fund are not only gone, but the Dems dont know what happened to it. The implentation of day light savings time will have more of a positive impact on our economy than any small inconvienances that we fear in our minds. i was at the govenment center a month or so back and an employee from Fish and Wildlife was talking to a fellow from land aqusition. Since i knew one of the fellows i ask them what they were all excited about. " our new governor just cancelled the leases on 2000 state cars and we have to decide which one of our own cars we will have to take to go to lunch". Yes there are going to be many changes, and yes some of them are going to inconvience us all somewhere and somehow. even in our beloved hunting and fishing pockets perhaps, or lower budgets for some of our sporting divisions. those changes dont have to be permanant, but they are needed. Indiana went from millions of dollars of black ink to millions of dollars of red ink. Give OUR GOVERNOR MITCH time to put all the needed changes and reforms together and then come to a conclusion. Any time new, innovative, and agressive changes are made the results tend to dip at first and then rapidly improve. To jump to conclusions at this point is not good sound management thinking. Come on patch, since we have him for the term give him the opportunity he deserves to turn our state around so we are no longer the laughing stock of the country because of our miserable finacial situation, and wasteful spending.
thanks guys

That's one thing I don't have Jack, is time. You forget, I already know this bird's track record. He took everything I had when he screwed IP&L. He had a job to do then and failed miserably.
Sorry Jack, it's just hard to sit by and watch and keep quiet. I did that once because I had faith in people to do their job, no more...
I'm not talking party lines here jack, I know some good on both sides, but if you let the weeds grow, your gona get some rats in the barn, I'm sorry...

you and I have and will always be on opposite sides on this
But we know we respect each others positions even if we dont agree with them. And thats the biggest reason i respect you so much patch. I dont agree with your feelings about Mitch Daniels, but you stick to the issues and how you feel about them and dont let yourself get caught up in emotional wranglings that do none of us any good. We know we are both on the same side, just with differant views on some subjects. I will maintain the same high standards youve set for us my friend. I will present the facts the way i see them and defend our governor vigorously, and will do so with a constant eye on being respectful of your ideas and feelings.... after all this is about the issues not about us individually. other words after we have fought our good fight we will go get some lunch then take the dogs out and run em on state land.....lol.
i really dont see where Govenor Daniels has done anything wrong so far, but he sure is doing a lot of things right. I do have some of the reasons for the Daylight savings time change and will share them. i dont expect them to come under favorable light with you... and would worry about you at this point if they did....lol. but at least im sharing what i know and have learned about the subject. No matter what happens, patch, im going to be happy due to the fact that i have vested interests in both keeping the same old, same old, and in grabbing onto the new time changes and running with it.

Strengthening Indiana’s Economy for All Hoosiers
Governor Daniels Applauds House Vote to Pass Daylight Saving Time Bill.
Indiana’s quirky observance of time costs Hoosiers jobs and opportunity.
In February more than 40 business leaders and economic development experts from across the state spoke about the importance of Daylight Saving Time to job creation and economic growth. Only seven people, most lobbying for drive-in theater owners, testified against.
According to an Indianapolis Star poll and a separate scientific statewide survey, roughly 6 out of 10 Hoosiers support observing Daylight Saving Time. According to the second poll, when Hoosiers learn that DST is important to creating jobs and improving the economy more than 7 out of 10 Hoosiers (71%) support DST. Only 1 in 5 Hoosiers opposes Daylight Saving Time.
It costs Indiana nothing to remove this possible reason a company would bypass the state. Kohl’s built a warehouse in Cincinnati because of Indiana’s time situation.
47 other states and 70 nations recognize Daylight Saving Time.
Indiana’s time situation results in three separate time zones.
77 counties on Eastern Standard Time Year Round
5 counties on Eastern Daylight Time
10 counties on Central Daylight Time
Governor Daniels and businesspeople recognize the Daylight Saving Time issue is not about politics, changing clocks, or ending the jokes – it’s about jobs.
Confusion about Indiana’s time costs Celadon, an Indianapolis-based trucking company which employs 800 people, $250,000 a year in missed or late shipments. Steve Russell, CEO of Celadon, says if he had to do it over again he would have started his company in Louisville, KY.
(Indianapolis Business Journal, January 26, 2004)
o “We cannot keep changing our schedules as we continue to grow more and more globally. We don’t just do business here in Indiana. We’re in favor of the bill so people know what time it is and how better to do business with us, ” said Dale Buuck said of Fort Wayne’s International Truck and Engine Corp. (Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, February 15, 2005)
FedEx places its annual losses from Indiana’s time situation at $1.5 million annually.
(Indianapolis Business Journal, January 26, 2004)
“Kohl’s distribution center was unhappy with the state’s lack of daylight-saving time in the summer.” Dan Theobold, Executive Director of the Johnson County Development Corporation, also stated, “We were actually advised that we had the project, but the decision swung at the last second to Cincinnati…”
(Indianapolis Business Journal, August 22, 2000)

Just like I thought!
The only one that will benefit from Day Light Savings Time here in Indiana is Big Business/"Friends of the Governor". It sure won't benefit the working individual especially the people in Southern Indiana that work in one time zone & live in another time zone. Now we can be screwed up year round instead of 5 months out of the year.
Guess this is one less vote for the Governor next time around!
