Watched Dirty Pond blacky run here in New York. His owner Andy P lived a couple of towns over from me. Andy had running grounds and was nice enough to let me run in his grounds. Many times when I was there running my dogs, blacky was on the ground and running. I still to this day think he was the best 15" male I've ever seen run....dh

They're not perfect, but they bring me enjoyment and that's what really matters in my opinion. When you hate to go run without them is a good feeling to have.

X2 what Snowdog said:
... if you are looking for a stud dog with very good control that can also really push a rabbit hard, Good luck in your search. The key is, can you find one that consistently throws offspring that can handle the speed. If you can find one that does that, let us know...
There are good stud dogs out there, make no mistake... Problem is too many people (and there buddies) will say their dog is the one... The fast ticket to your champion hound!

Maybe I'm just contrary but I choose to build up from the foundation (my females), preferably with old proven blood. Same for the stud dog: a bloodline and individual with a proven producing record over time... Looking for that line-bred male that "consistently throws offspring" with the specific traits I seek for a particular mating. Will it take longer that a fast ticket ride? Probably; but this way I know I'll get where I want to go. :)

This is a question like many others that I completely never understand . Their are so many things that come into play that IMHO could not be answered with out a lot more info than someone saying " I do or this one , that one " . Surely most don't think it's as simply as asking the question . Years of background must be looked at studied and time in the field . List just goes on & on & on . But I do get a laugh reading some replies !

You have to put Pinehill Twizzler in the mix as well. I've watched him win in southern indiana on that snow/ice in February where he had to gear way down and pretty much gave all of us a serious whoopin to good big running in iowa. He is the same consistent line running dog week in and week out every time I see him on the ground he is right there in the mix. He won NE Wisconsin this past weekend and i'll guess he isn't done just yet. I have a feeling you will see some of his pups here in Iowa as soon as we can get the right female in heat!

I have seen Twizzler on ice/snow in severe cold in WI.
Very impressive nose without the babbling baggage.
He appears to have gears seeing he has won in both good conditions and bad as well as in LPH, SPO and ARHA LP.
