It happens to us all, but never get easy

Rocky, my buddy beagle expired today. Even though I knew it was imminent, it still makes me sad. Born August 11, 2000 died March 5, 2015.

He had more drive than any dog I have ever owned. On his last hunt, he drug his back legs into the hole where the rabbit had gone. I pulled him out by the tail, fearing he would get in too deep to recover. He went on retirement that instant.

I have no idea how many rabbits we chased but it was a ton. The joy and fun he provided is measured in millions.

I will sign off, the screen is blurring.

The good ones sure get old in a hurry don't they. Sounds like you guys made a lot of good memories. Any offspring?

I hope my three live to be 15. I hate to see good companions leave us, but memories will stay with us for ever.

I've been guilty of it myself fellas, but try not take those good ones for granted. they're gone so soon, and wish to hell you had them back.

Sorry to hear. I have one heading that way too. She's just a house dog, but part of the family.

When I got Rocky he was named Lucky. He was the ninth pup in the litter. His mother kept carrying him to the owner. She asked the vet and he said check the number of dinner plates and she only had eight. She then would separate Lucky and the mother for him to suckle. I did not like the name Lucky for a beagle.

He made it, and now maybe I should change MY name to Lucky.
