wire fencing
I've thinking about building a small pen for exercising the dogs or sometimes putting a young pup in there with a rabbit. I was thinking about chainlink but with the extra cost of posts & top rails & all that-not sure if its feasable. I live in the country so looks is not a big deal. I don't want to pay big bucks for high fi wire, esp plus shipping costs. Any ideas ?

I've had good luck finding chain link fencing at auctions. You can run a 2' strip of regular chicken wire along the bottom. The 2 x 4 fence is cheaper and locally available from TSC or Lowes or Farm Fleet. Run the chicken wire on the bottom. Not perfect but not a bank breaker either.

I've got an acre and a half fenced in for breaking puppies, used 4ft chicken wire 1inch mesh.T-post wire and landscape timbers for corner post.got about $500 in it. Used trees as post where I could to save on buying t-post. Cheap but working well for exercising grown dogs and breaking pups with Tennessee Red Back rabbits!

I bought no climb horse fence wire from tractor supply. It's five feet tall and has 2x4 spacing. I'm going to put it up and see if San juans will stay in it. If not I'm gonna wrap it in chicken wire for the bottom two feet

I plan to build a "puppy pen" this spring, maybe a half acre. There are scattered Christmas trees and sassafras patches along with some broom sedge grass. I'll add a couple of brush piles for escape cover.

An acre is 43, 560 square feet so a half-acre pen could be about 148 x 148 or a bit less. Also could be 100 x 218 or any combination that makes 21,780 square feet.

Hey Tim, once you get your fence built and a rabbit in it, then maybe you can find a beagle that will run a rabbit!
Just kidding, I still haven't seen those pups of yours yet.
