We have bought two hounds from Jake with South Woods. Described to exact specifications, probably better than what they said in both cases.

Guys there are still good, honest people who will sell a good dog just because it doesn't fit into there trialing plans, the case on both these hounds. Both are excellent hounds for SPO Midwest, and are excellent under the gun on both hare and cottontail.

Just because Jake doesn't throw a big price on them I am confident people think they are just your typical junk for sale in the dog adds. Not the case with South Woods Kennels, they keep good hounds, COMPETITIVE hounds, and there "culls" are for legitimate reasons, too tall, not aggressive enough for large pack....but they don't lack in the key areas that make them very, very good hounds!!

Just wanted to share a very positive experience with these guys and give them a shout out. Both of these hounds will be used in our plans for the future as they are rabbit dogs, close, clean, quick, and hunt very hard, bred out of hounds very similar for generations.

Here is the female, South Woods Blue Diamond....nice dog in all areas.

We just recently bought her brother and he has the makings to be just like her. They are off of IFC Blue Max and FC Southwoods Cyclone.
We like there good foot, close check work, and nice pull out of the check.

Jake knows a good hound.

I got dogs from jake and his uncle jim; the best dogs I ever owned. hard hunt, nose and the brains to run rabbits all day long. I can run my hounds all week on swampers down here in MS; and not once they quit; just feed them when I get home and they will be ready the next day; tuff as nails. three got out Saturday; and being running for 2days in the heat until I came down this morning to fix the pen. jake a good guy with some darn goods hounds. u can go on youtube under southboykennels and check out some of my clips of the hounds I got from him and his uncle. thanks

Jake is still very young. He already put a huge impact in the beagle world. Nice kid with very nice dog.

Very true some hounds that are not banging enough for large pack on hare make good cottontail spo dogs and hunting dogs especially in briars, thick brush, swampy areas where patience is needed.Jake always has a competive hounds sounds like a very nice young man to replace the ones slowily dying off. Need more like him for the future.

A lot of guys get on here and rip guys to pieces often and honestly I don't mind if they are letting people know about crooked guys but I appreciate Jim getting on here and letting people know about the good guys too. Two positive post about great interaction with good people that is awesome.

Here is South Woods Black Magic, Diamonds littermate brother. He was gunned on hare and Jake said he did not have the aggressive running style for Large Pack, but had all the other skills. Once again, Jake knows good hounds and said he would do well on Cottontail, he was very correct. He and his sister have very good foot and quick out of check on a cottontail, but definitely know where the point of loss is.

We really like them both. It also doesn't hurt that they both have huge bawling mouths that are fun to listen to.
