Coyote Trouble
Never had much trouble with coyotes in the past here in south-western Ohio but we've had beagles ran out of the field twice this spring. No casualties.........yet. Any one else having trouble?

Re: Coyote Trouble
Just listen quietly when a train is going down the track blowing its horn.
Amazing how close some packs are to one another and how they howl at the train as it passes them.

Got ran out the woods by one yesterday in Delaware dogs were a couple hundred yards out from me when I heard one come through so I started yelling for the dogs and to scare it off, it did not work it was probably 10 15 yards from me started barking and howling made a little charge at it and it made a little charge back lol followed me and the dogs out the woods barking and howling the whole time. It wont be there for long I can tell you that much, got to have a den right there.
already knocked a few down guess I got to get a few more

Re: Coyote Trouble
We have had trouble around here for years. Coon hunting was the worst they would come in and run the dog off the tree. With my beagles I run bells on them when I solo or when just running a couple at a time. I hadn’t had any trouble doing that. I run for years at night and always put bells on them after getting run out of the woods one night by a big pack. I always carry my 40 glock with me here. If you have a CWP they cannot say anything to you. Check your laws in your area don’t take my word I am in S.Carolina.
The DNR people told us to soak pipe insulation in blood and hang it three of four feet off the ground. You also can use sponge cut into 3x3 squares soaked in blood. There stomach gets blocked up and kills them. Whatever you do make sure you keep the beagles out of the area for a while.

Heard an ambulance on a distant road late one afternoon. As I was standing there the Coyotes lit up the block of woods I was in. Alot more were howling than I imagined were in the whole county much less that block of woods.

Re: Coyote Trouble
They are behind our and kennel, on our favorite running grounds, and just about everywhere else. We have had them attack the pack, some injuries but no deaths yet. We do not have an answer; they are so numerous. We see signs that they are working on the rabbits.ANTHONY KERR wrote:Alabama John wrote:Just listen quietly when a train is going down the track blowing its horn.

Re: Coyote Trouble
My son havest a good amount of them here each year. The only problem is other hunters/thieves keep stealing his traps.
Once their dogs get attacked I hope they rethink their ways.He even pays out money for "dog friendly" traps designed
not to break a animals leg.I always tell him to stear clear of rabbit hunting spots ect ... but no matter how much you
walk or try to stay away from places where people or dogs travel the thieves will find you.
