Does anyone have any pics or plans for a dog box for an SUV. I am wanting to make one for my Jeep Patriot b/c it is better on gas then my older F 150 that I drive. If you have any pics or ideas, please share.

Call Chuck Prather with Plum Creek Kennel supply. I bet Senecca has had some requests for those. He may have pics..

Good luck!

I welded up the frame that goes in the hitch receiver. I wanted the box to set on the bumper ,tight against the SUV. I just looked around for a box that was low enough to let me open my rear window (my rear window hinges at the top).if yours rolls down into the back gate , box height would not be as big an issue. I also added a piece of styrofoam insulation, covered by a piece of Masonite,in the top of the box to keep it cooler. If you used a box with a top storage compartment the foam would not be necessary.
Hope this helped

Looks pretty good, but I would prefer my dogs inside in case of a rear-end collision.

You can put yours inside.I absolutely could not stand that much dog smell. And this vehicle sees a lot of time hauling dogs.

I have one I picked up at a garage sale that fit perfectly in back of my Jeep Cherokee Sport, I ended up taking off about 14 inches off the back so the back seat will go up. Pm your phone number and I'll send pic and dimensions if you want them.
Thanks,
Bob

Rough Tuff Kennels are pretty tough to beat for in vehicle transport

They aren't like your typical last for a year kennel that will break if you look at it funny.....I also like how the door opens in either direction or can be popped right off without tools. If you get multiples they can be bolted together, they have threaded inserts built into the kennel for handles, clamps and accessories including a bin that goes on top for storing collars/bowls/....
