Kids that trial

I am very impress with the young kids that are attending the trials with their hounds. These kids that travel from state to state even if it means missing school to make it to a trial. I know that they are the ones who work their hounds and show their hounds. I think that many times they over looked and not viewed as the young houndsmen and houndswomen that they are. I for one, and I know I'm not alone, enjoy watching them present their hounds and I know that they have something we all can learn from. They are their for the love of the hound and sport, as adults we forget this sometimes.

I know that I can't list all of the kids that are trailing and do not every want to take away from any one of them, so many of the kids I have not had the pleasure of meeting due to geographic location.

But to start this off I'm going to give a big hats off to: (and would love for others to list the young kids in their area that work their hounds & trial/show them):
Matthew Eagleton
Ashlee Rice
Shawn Glen/Nate Stephens
Mini-Mugsie
Nate and Zach Broadley
Hunter Gray
Shannon Wells
Lucas Byrd
Jacob Murphy
Jacob Loy

Great Post Laura, I See These Youngsters At The Hunts Feeding And Watering The Dogs, Always Smiling And Having Fun And They Love To Show Off Their Dogs. They All Work With Their Dogs And It Shows They Know What Kind Of Mouth Their Dog Has And They Can Pick Them Out In A Pack. Some Of These Kids Are Now Judging In The Trials And Do A Very Good Job!

I Can't Imagine Going To A Hunt And Not Seeing Them There, They Usually Make The Hunt Fun For Me.
Our Daughter Shannon Goes To Almost Every Hunt With Us For The Last Few Years And I Have Enjoyed Every Minute Of It.

Thank You To All The Youth That Come To The Hunts You All Are A Constant Reminder What These Hunts Should Be All About! Keep Up The Good Work.

Very good post! I know if it wasn't for my daughter Kirsten Jade I would've quit this sport I love a year ago. But she loved the dogs and running as much as I did so I stayed in for her now I'm glad I did. She will be entering her first dog in a trial this Saturday at Sandy Gap's trial along with her good buddy Christian Godby. Wish them luck or wish there competition luck cause I know what they packing

You Gotta Be Kidding These Kids Are On The Internet, Facebook, Twitter, Smart Phones, Ect. Ect. And Probably Know Way More About Computers Than Most Of Us Adults Will Ever Know!

Besides All That They Have Been On The Internet More Than Once With Their Picture Showing Their Dog With The Trophy They Won Both On The Internet And In The Rabbit Hunter Magazine.
If The Parents Of Any Of These Kids Want Their Names Removed From The List Please Pm Laura And I'm Sure She Will Delete Then Thanks.

great post and me being the father of one of the kids mentioned and my wife setting beside me love looking at the post while my girl is sitting and cheesing from ear to ear just off the fact that she was mentioned. She has made a bunch of friends from traveling and showing her dog and it has given her the up most confidence of being up in front of people with no stage fright her book reports have showed this. I know there is creeps out there but us as fellow beaglers look out for our young as well we should that's part of being a family{beagle family} great job youth and you hold the future of our sport. Thanks Laura for making the youngsters feel important too. Jeremy and amy rice

I remember when i was the youngster going to trials in the U.P of Michigan, still a young guy (19 years old) but since ive made my way near the top I have passed the torch to some of my running partners Nate Brewer (13 years) and Brandon Perry (14 years) they are both hard into beagling and trialing and have both placed their own hounds! Look out for them in the future! The biggest key to helping the youth is leading them in the right way and teaching them to not be (kennel blind) get rid of the bad and keep the good, if the dog suites you then keep it also, I do everything i can to help these young guys with their hounds and help them with knowledge that was given to me at their age by the older guys!

If it wasn't for my son Wesley I wouldn't be trialing at all. Ever since last Feb when I had a bad car wreck I haven't been able to handle a dog in a trial. Wes loves to trial so we still go most weekends and he handles all the dogs. He still has a lot to learn but he is out there every weekend trying!
