I have a two year old male. He contracted tapes this past fall running regularly and I am sure catching rabbits and eating a few. I am confident multiple other exposure ways were involved, that is not the point.

I have treated this dog MULTIPLE times, in a timely manner, with the recommended meds. Even with "vet prescribed meds", I have tried all natural methods,diatomaceous earth, with no results.

This dog will show clean for a few days, up to a week, then start passing the small tape segments. I am really lost on what to continue with success??? He has good energy, coat looks good, but doesn't hold weight like I feel he should.

I have clearly identified the tapes, not difficult, but am I not treating for enough length of time? I am retreating in 2 wks, then again in 2 wks. This is ongoing. Puzzled by it.

None of my other hounds have them....just curious if others have had more success than I.

have you tried tape worm pills, they are strictly for tape worms you'll have to tell the vet your dogs weight cause they'll have to give the dog a pill to his/her weight. all pills wont be the same strengh so if you missed your dogs weight and you didn't get the right dose of a pill then your dog will not get rid of his/her tape worm problems.

Yes, his weight was correct and he was clear for a couple weeks. Can't understand it.

I have very good results using (dog worm 3) from 800 petmeds. They have two different pills, one 6/25 lbs------ 25/50 lbs.

Tell the dog to quit catching rabbits, if that dont work. May try 2-3 days in a row a week for 3 weeks.

I am going to get him every week for the next 3, we will see.

As far as catching rabbits, he hasn't caught one in a while. Tapes slowed him down too much....LOL.

Equimax has been a god sent here at my place.

Anything with praziquantel, and make sure the dog isn't reinfecting himself from his environment.
I would bleach around his kennel area if possible.

Thanks, gonna hit him 3 wks in a row, we will knock them.

I go to the vet once a year and get a big bottle of wormer. Forget the name. Its 40 a bottle and enough to do 5 dogs 4 days in a row. If there's any kind of worms in them they'll be gone.

go to ebay and get the CANIDONS, (generic drontal plus) 50 for around 33 shipped. none better from my experience.

Droncet or Droncet Plus.
3 weeks later, then 3 weeks later, then 3 weeks later.
They come from bunnies, fleas, and deer turds primarily.
