Why are some people scared to run their FC or IFC stud dogs? Is it the money they spent on the dog either to buy or to finish or simply because they are scared the dog isn't what they say it is there for they are using a description of the dog and because the dog is finished as a way to promote the dog instead of showing his ability? Or are they scared the dog will have a bad day and don't want people to see the dog on a bad day? I understand if the dog is 8+ years old and he is no longer in good running shape but a dog in their prime 3-6 maybe even 7 years old why do some choose not to show them in the field? Maybe I'm totally off base here and off my rocker but some hounds are not trialed where I am located and maybe would like to breed to said dog but would like to watch said dog run to see dog for myself instead of taking a trial or trial result for decision!! I have personally been to trials that I would never breed to all of the dogs that where on a winners bench!! Not saying the judges didn't get the right dogs on there but they just were no where near my style or type of hound at that trial!!

theres alot of stud dogs out there the same as theres alot of cars and houses,we can make our own choice, nobody can force you to buy. if i ask someone to see their dog run and they dont choose to run him (thats their business) i have the choice to move on.

Lamarr I completely understand its their dog and their choice just as it is ours to breed to something else I'm just trying to figure out why some choose not to show them.

my buddy steve orwieler paid 4500 for a dog and it got ran over while he was out running it. i personally wouldnt wanna take that chance. if i wanted to find out the dogs style and the owner chose not to run him then i just wouldnt breed to him,no big deal.

Did someone not allow you to watch a stud go?? I believe it's the owner's right not to show his dog off, might be bad for business but its his right. To be honest I would rather watch his offspring go out of different bitches. Just cause he runs a certain way doesn't mean he throws that. I heard in the past that Branko's Red River Runner was wide in the check and swung a lot. I haven't seen any pups out there out of him that were wide in the check or swung. I never seen Runner go except for a few videos and I didn't see it there either. Everybody has their own views and opinions on how a dog runs and it varies from Beagler to Beagler. So keep your stud in the pen and let me see their kids....

let me start by saying i would never breed to a dog i personally wasnt familiar with. like what kind of pups their throwing and so on. but having an open mind, they would recieve so many requests it wouldnt even be funny. people from all over would be calling. so i kinda see it from both sides.

Some people don't care, but some do. I had a buddy get a big name dog to breed to, and the guy said to run him if my buddy wanted to take him out. Needless to say he didn't. What if my buddy took that dog out, and it got killed? I'd hate to pay for that.

Jim hall may be keeping Walker for a month or two the end of Feb. He plans on running him and showing guys what he will do in the field. If something happens to him it just happens. They will be no hard feelings but I can tell you if the guys that bring there bitch to him , he will be better the breed. So I hope guys will take a chance to watch him run and breed to him.

I would suspect if a guy is unwilling to show a stud it's because he's been burned by tire kicker's and procrastinators that never amount to more then a waste of his time. Not to mention guy's that say they're coming and never show. I can see it getting old pretty quick and by not running the dog for everybody and anybody that asks sure puts a stop to it.

if you are a rabbit hunter and own a stud dog, you should be taking that dog every time you go. thats why we own dogs. if you own a fc and don't run him you are a business man not a rabbit hunter. your fc is the best dog in your kennel RIGHT. i agree with terry 100%

Some studs get bred to alot (100 times or more) that could get aggravating showing him to everybody, heck I dont even have the time to run mine that often lol. My opinion it's up to the stud owner whether they wanna run him or not, some guys pay alot of money for a dog,but whatever their reason is they wouldn't owe me an explanation,it's their dog they can do whatever they want with it. I guess I would just go breed to something else.
