I run year round and don't have a ton of spots so don't kill too many out of them.I've got a 6 month old pup that's just coming on so I like to take one when I go but pretty much let them just run the rest.

I'm the same way, I could care less about killing some rabbits cause a dead bunny don't run any more!!! I don't have many spots so I would rather run them than kill them but if I had more spots or a lot of rabbits then maybe it would be different!!!

Rabbit season has been awesome we kill rabbits every time out. I hunt 3 to 4 times a week. Me and my friends have killed 140 rabbits this year so far over my 4 dogs... Still seeing 3/4 grown rabbits running around. It must have been a real good breeding season for the rabbits this year.i have 12 day vacation coming up in January can't wait going to rabbit hunt ever day... :D

I have started to find peoples approach to rabbit hunting (aswell as mine) a bit funny. When i was growing up hunting with my father and grandfather we killed everything. If we jumped it we shot it if the dogs jumped one up while they were running another one we shot it. They never stood a chance at getting away. Even today they both still have that mind set, my grandfather cant even get out anymore but he loves listening to my stories and everytime he watches a video of mine he says why didnt you shoot that one. When my father is out there with me he shoots to kill which is fine i just find it a little comical how years and generations can change things. Nowadays i go out and barely take a gun just doesnt seem worth carrying it if i never load it. Dad always asks why i dont kill them and the answer is always the same they cant run if their dead. I have no problem with him shooting as many as he likes and never give him a hard time about it because after all hes the one that got me into this wonderful sport!!!!

We ran this afternoon after three or four days of snow and 20-30 mph winds. We had two or three good chases. We had two cross right behind each other and two cross that weren't the ones the dogs were running--just decided to get out of Dodge. Ran my two males and another guy's pup and older female. Can't wait for the trials to start. One male is too tall, but he's a good dog. Both came back with bloodied tails so they must have had fun. I've only killed three rabbits over my dogs but I don't usually even take a gun. When I do go to hunt, if I kill a couple that's enough. I have three litter mates that are 19 months and a 13 week pup out of my male that I trial. I'm running with another guy tomorrow that has a pup that just started opening last time.

I've shot 8, and Crank has caught three, so brought 11 home so far. Which isn't that bad for around here. My dad and uncle have shot a few over him as well.

I couldn't eat 150 rabbits a year. probly haven't even ran that many Id say. just shooting one here and there for supper but having a good time running. lots of rabbits here but don't think there is as many as last year. I figure its the major increase in coyote population
