Hunted with Matt and his dog Amigo today. I had out Torque, Rose and Gauge. I was only able to hunt for about 4 hours, but it was a great four hours. I dont think we went more than ten minutes all day without running.
Had some nice retrieves from my male Torque also.
Its still to thick and with no snow on the ground it makes it hard to video, but its as good as it get for now. Waiting for the snow to fly and get some good footage and running.
Change to 720P

Contender super 14 in 410 bore with a costum recessed standard choke and a normal modified 410 choke infront of that.

Could you explain more about that choke set up. What kind of range? Who made it . Any other barrel work done. I have a super 14 and only get between 20 and 25 yards of a good pattern and I have tried all kinds of reloads, even brass 9.3x74R fireformed cases. Think if I could find a better wad that would contain all of the shot it may work better.

I use hand reloads # 6 shot nickle platted in a stretch wad which holds the shot longer. I shoot only 3" hauls and prefer the older style Remington's with the texturing if I can find them. They seem to crimp the best and give u the best pattern. I use a MeC reloader and hodgden lil' gun powder. It burns extremely fast for short barrel guns.
The barrel work was done by the "kings" of contenders MGM. It was recessed approx 3-4 inches down the barrel and a gun smith out west made a modified 410 choke that fits perfectly flush with the stock choke from TC. He also made a custom extractor tool out of the standard choke from TC so I can take it in and out still. The custom choke just loosens with a standard bolt pattern.
It basically stops the wad from spinning with the standard tc choke and then it goes right into a regular style 410 choke that tightens and uniforms the pattern. I increased my pattern density so much it was hard to believe from the standard one. Just my reloads alone made a huge difference before I bought this barrel. It's actually almost to tight from 10 yards in you better be right on them.
I have killed two over 40 yards with it one being close to 50 crossing a road. I would say it would kill them everytime if u can hit them out to 35. It's as tight as an standard 410 long gun. If u have any other questions send me a PM.

Thanks for the information. I use my contender for mostly close shots usually in thick spots. I use a 2o guage youth 1187 for longer shots, and usually carry both. You have a nice custom setup there.

I also use a 11-87 youth model 20 gauge if I ever carry a long gun. Usually only for hare in NY since it's illegal for me to carry my pistol.

My old man killed one with a standard 12 inch barrel this weekend at about 42 yards. There was 2 bb's right in the head. Granted, that's not a lot, but like Frank, that's the 3rd rabbit i've seen killed at 40 with a contender. I can shoot 30 yards with ease with my 14 inch barrel. I'm not sure how you are only getting a good pattern to 20???
