I did mine at like 4 or 5 weeks old. A new pair of snips and then sprayed on some blue coat. They did fine.

I do mine at one week. Silver nitrate sticks to cauterize, good scissors.
no issues yet.

I do mine(front and back) at 3-4 days old. I use the dog nail clippers that are like scissors. They snip off and bleed a little but momma cleans them up quickly. I've never had a problem.

3-4 days or whenever you can physicaly feel the pups getting stronger. And I dont put anything on them let the bitch clean them. She is gonna lick anything you put on them off anyhow.

Vet reccomends 4-10 days on removal. I use suchor scissors they have a small hook on tip helps hold the claw in place can pick them up ebay very cheap. If I have a bleeder I use corn starch works Very Well to stop bleeding ( wife actually suggested this she gets lucky now & then) I know suchor spelled wrong?
Hope this helps , Tom

I do mine within 3 to 4 days old before the nerve endings are fully developed and the joint starts to harden, less pain for the puppy then. I usually do front and back dew claws.

I use a large pair of blunt nose toenail clippers, nip even with the leg. A little blood stop powder or mama will have it cleaned and clotted.
3-10 days old, a runt may get the longer time.

Dogs use the front ones more than you think especially running in steep terrain. If youll notice after running hills and mountains youll probably see that they have a little dirt underneath them. Try cutting off your thumbs and see how much grip you have. They also use them when holding bones and such.
