If he only annoys you 3 or 4 times a year and does all the rest of the things you mentioned the rest of the time,I could live with it.

Casey, U will find that the selective hearing goes on the other way once U get married! I know my wife has a invisible switch that she says she clicks off and I can tell it when she does.

Here's my theory. Maybe he smells something he knows he is not supposed to run and feels trenendous guilt. He runs home to avoid the massive guilt he is feeling. Or just has selective hearing I dont know.

I seen dogs do that if a pack of coyotes have been in the area the night before. Took them to a new area and they did good!

About 30 years ago I had an old female, excelent hunter, did the same thing every once in a while. One time I got so mad I pulled up and almost shot at her. I gave up calling and chasing her and we went back to the house, she beat us back to the truck. Sometimes we don't give our dogs enough credit.
Thanks,
Bob

Least he is a good dog, nothing worse than chasing a worthless one around to get a collar. We have all had one or two like that, it's just part of it.i have to say the ole shock collar works pretty good on that part.
