I have fed cans of Jack Mackeral to dogs that were down on weight due to hard running or an ailment. Mackerel are prized for their oily meat, which is very high in omega-3 fats. Omega-3 fats are a type of polyunsaturated fat that offers a variety of health benefits. Fed with rice it seems to bring them around quickly.

reason i asked was i talked to a guy yesterday that was feeding it he said he fed it for the protein and the oils to slick them up but he also said it helped thier joints and the red blood cells,, he runs 5 days a week and his hounds were thin but muscled up real good and boy did they have the energy, just wanted to know the goods of it before i tried it,,,,,,,,

Ringtail. I never have fed to my dogs but i know that fish is fed to huskies that pull sleds as it is high in protein and fat.

I know people that fed trout to coyote hounds seemed to keep them in top shape. I would be afraid dure to all the small bones.

A tablespoon of codliver oil is cheaper, less mess and work...

I feed mine fish sometimes. I have fed trout and Rockbass "redeyes" if u a hillbilly like me. The bones are no problem at all. I havent fed it often enough to tell if it makes a difference. I figure they may get somethin they need from it still .
