now that season is over

tell us ur favorite memory from the past hunting season
my favorite was my son and i went to one of our honey holes and the dogs hit a rabbit and was pounding it i had my son get ready he has never killed one yet it popped out on to a road we was in and was heading dead at us. i felt like troy from swamp people i was saying choot him it kept coming right at us it finally turned and headed away from us my son still hadn't shot at it yet as it was getting a little to far i shot at it and crippled it my son hands me his gun and goes running after it and caught it. the rabbit was wiggling he laid a perfect judo chop to the back of its head and we argue until i finally agreed he killed his first rabbit the picture i took of him holding that rabbit is priceless it is also the screen savor on my phone

I have two stories that really stick out in my mind. The first one was a snowny day and my older brother came in for a hunting weekend only happens a couple times a season. I had five dogs on the ground and we hunted for about 6 hours and were froze but they ran 15 and we killed five. the best run of the day was when Dad jumped one and it was a cite chase for a good ways after it circled it ran right next to my brother and he had to unload his gun to kill it but it was a great day.

The second story is the day I went hunting after getting my wisdom teeth cut out. Dad said it was a bad idea but I didnt care I was on break and was going hunting. It was the second time in my life Ive took pain killers. I pulled out a gun and said there is no way he is getting around me so he takes off walking and the dogs jump one and pound it. They jumped 23 that day in 4 hours. We only killed 3 and I killed them. I shot them back to back to back, but the first one I shot dad missed and he was a good 100 yards away and I hear pellets landing all around. The next thing I know the rabbit tries to jump in my pocket lol. It was a foot step away when I shot it. Ive never seen rabbits packed into a place like that before. I watched 5 different rabbits run into the same rock pile. I wasnt packing a gun at the time cause I felt funky but it was great listening to the dogs pound them like that.

Favorite story-Me and my brother were standing in the road waiting to see if the rabbit the dogs ran down the road to another woods would come back. When it started back along the road he tried to shoot it and his gun jammed and he could not get it to fire. I began shooting and missed it 6 times. It finally it stopped right in front of us(I guess it felt pretty safe there) and I lined him up for the kill. I squeeze the trigger and my gun goes click. I had emptied it. The dogs ended up running it around the woods again and the next time I saw it I got it with one shot. My brother took this pic of me standing in a pile of spent shells.

MY FIRST YR. HUNTING WITH SOME NEW FRIENDS LET ME SAY I REALLY ENJOYED HUNTING WITH JOSH DEESE AND HIS DAD TOMMY U WANT FIND NO BETTER PEOPLE HUNT SAME WAY I DO NO JUMP SHOOTING AND CARE MORE ABOUT DOGS THAN KILLING A RABBIT .THOUGHT I WAS ABOUT DONE HUNTING BUT THESE GUYS HAVE REKINDLED MY HUNTING .JUST A BIG THANK U TO BOTH OF THEM ONE OF BEST SEASONS I EVER HAD 45 YRS OF BEAGELING ALSO QUINTON WILLIE WELCH BRIAN HICKS ALL STAND UP GUYS

I have been blessed with some good rabbit hunting friends that's for sure.
