Loose Mouth ?

Post by rackhntr »

I have a really good female that when I first turn her loose she will bark 3 or 4 times. I have recently tried her in LP and when I first cut her loose she barked 3 times. Needless to say she didnt produce a rabbit in 3 minutes. She only does this when first cut loose then its hard hunt and she dont open anymore until the rabbit is up. I was just wandering if theres anything I can do to stop this?

Try to thump her in the head as soon as you turn her loose and change her thinking for a second!! It may work as i have seen this done!!

Knew a guy at the trials in middle Tn. that had the same problem with a very nice dog.Just before the judge would tell the handlers to "turn em loose" he would stuff a handfull of grass he had picked in his mouth!Seemed to work!LOL.

Run it out of her....sounds like to much energy. Plus TriTronics if you know she can control her mouth when she wants too....

 :check: Not too hard of course but just enough to distract her.

I have one that would do this at spots where we normally hit rabbits right away when he was overly rested back when he was only 2 or 3 years old. You might call it pre-mature barking .
