where has all the youth gone
Is the sport that we all love on its way out. You take little pack and akc where u have to run with the dogs. Who is behind the contis and weavers. These gentlemen r in there 30 and who is judging there dogs when there 50. Just curious.

I'm 28 and the current president at my club. We have 24 members. 6 are life members, and there are 3 full members younger than me, and 1 junior member. I can see how one may think it's on the decline. But dying? I sure hope not.

i also hope not. I have a grandson that i am going to do my best to get interested. Just keep the butt holes away from the young judges and they will stay but for the most part they cant take some idiot yelling at them. We must cuddle r youth lol

Unfortunately we see this in sports of all types as well. I contribute it alot to under dedicated parents, JMO. I want my kids to enjoy the same things I do. My son and daughter both pleasure run and hunt with me, if I trialed they would go as well.
Heck, numbers for kids in T ball are low. Sporting age in MANY things are on the decline. Just saw where somewhere in New York they are trying to ban football for kids under 11, they want to ban everything that shows the competitive side of kids come out. Maybe they will ban jobs that are competitive and give us government money??

Young bucks cant beat the buddy system u old boy stick together(u no who u are)
Some of us youngsters learn fast an like someone else saiddont like beating our heads against the wall. It is much funner to grab the 12 an blow um down.
This is what all my friends say that are young and tryed the hunts. Most will never attend another.

WOW you r out there. You know what the youth of today cant handle. The truth they have been told all there lifes that they r just as good as the next person and equal rights and even when they lose they dont. When they step out of the arms of mommy the world hits them in the mouth and they cant handle it. This sounds like you. Hope i am wrong but WOW I am floored that you said that. Took me 25 years to get where i am but i made it. The so called good old boys couldnt deny me once i got a good dog maybe thats what you need a good dog. But ha what every floats your boat. Sounds to me like your a quiter.

Look at the last post and that is why I don't trial. Not a big fan of the ego's and bs that comes with it. I just want to go out and shoot a few rabbits and listen to the dogs run. You went from hoping the youth will get interested to bashing them for being cry babies and quitters. LOL. Not sure that strategy will bring many in!

Well i think we are not really doing the sport right.Theres alot of rabbit hunters out there and will not go to a trial.Why.There like me.You call that a FC.I think and not by myself.Theres just to many FC out there period.That you have to tally ho a rabbit up for them.To me that not rabbit hunting.And go to trials now.The fellowship is gone.Just looking points.

U are way wrong about me. I was raised with nothin,my mom an her boyfriend were biker drug adicks. he would hit me like a man when I was 10.not trying to cry about it but silver spoon here bud. Infact my step dad just got out the pen for cookin meth. yup (silver spoon here bud).everything I got I erned. I am proud of it an will tell ya about it.
I been working since I was 12. all summer long when my friends were playing i was workin. my best buddys dad took me in an tought me how to work.
I will work u till u stroke. Hard work brought me what I have. hot summers on roofs in 100 degree weather not quiting. when others stroke out. ( silver spoon kid here) i had my own house when I was 16 (rent of course) this boy raised his self, went to school full time held a job played sports an made captain graduated an busted my ass everysummer. hard work got me what i got.
It took every dime I had to live.
U ask any one who know me I get a lot of respect from others where I live. Will take the shirt off my back for a man I dont like if he needed it more than me. So dont u go assuming anything about me. U might think I am a punk u might not like my opeion I might cross the line. U can judge my dogs,but

U must not have ran ukc hunts many youngsters have gotten pencial whiped minused out ext. i have seen it

I have only had a bad shake 2 times one akc one ukc just dust under the rug to me
But when u bring a first timer and there dog dose great to get beat by the pen,or buddy system they wont try it again
i am no quiter try me out
i havent trialed lately as i just bought a house gutted it out and fixing it up takes lots of money
U must be a buddy system guy

TAKES ALOT OF DEDICATION AND WITH THE WAY SO MANY KIDS ARE BROUGHT UP THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO STICK WITH SOMETHING LONG ENOUGH TO BE SUCCESSFUL. IF YOU ARE A YOUNG ADULT AND FEEL YOU GOT CHEATED LEARN THE RULES AND START JUDGING, I DONT KNOW OF A CLUB THAT COULD NOT USE SOME MORE AND IT MIGHT OPEN SOME EYES THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET EVERYTHING LITTLE PACK DOGS ARE TOO FAST TO FOLLOW AND SEE EVERYTHING.

my 3 1/2 year old goes running with me every time i go. he absolutely loves it. i hope he and i can judge together in 13 years but that is a long way off. maybe most youth don't get into it because we keep score. i bet if everyone tied more would come. this country also has a huge daddy problem. a lot of people call it a gun, mental illness, video game, violent movie, cyber bullying, or whatever else problem. to me its a daddy problem. there is nothing more i enjoy than spending time with my three children. by the way my three year old can tell you what dog is winning so he already knows about winning and losing.
