Best Midwest State to Hunt?
Where would be a good place to start? Have looked at DNR/State Wildlife maps, but would like to hear from people who know? I would like to put a three day hunt together. Any help will be appreciated!

I can tell you Iowa is very spotty have seen some increase from last yr but still very spotty, don't think it would be worth the drive, everyone I run with from Missouri, Illinois say the same very spotty, heard Kansas is still good and also Nebraska.

Try Missouri. Tons of conservation land around Truman lake. Practically all is very good. I get upset with my dogs if they have not started one within five minutes.

When are you planning to make the trip? Missouri rabbit season ends 15Feb and doesn't reopen until 1Oct. However, you can still run your hounds sunrise to sunset during the closed season. The limit is 6 but a focus on limiting out isn't always a great idea since the supply, although good, isn't unlimited. I would be willing to show you some good places on several thousand acres of public land if you think western MO is what you're looking for. Yesterday, with only a week of the season left, we still had rabbits running all over the area with the pack split as often as not. So right now, the running is great but that can change drastically by next season. PM me if you have questions.

I have found east Tn. to be very spotty this season also as compared to say the past two seasons.Don't really have any answer as to why.

If you want to wear out your welcome in KANSAS --EVEN THOUGH THEY DON'T HAVE A CLOSED SEASON ---Is to be shooting rabbits in the spring when they are carrying babies

Guess I should have said " Is Kansas the only state with a longer season?"
