Hound color preference

I thought I'd start something a little more lighthearted today. There are a lot of serious matters being discussed, and rightly so. Let's discuss hound color. I'm not just asking for what you have in your kennel, but what is easiest to see in the places you typically run, and what is most aesthetically pleasing to see on the bench and/or flat out behind a bunny. I like my lemon hounds, since there are very few occasions that we would run on snow. A friend of mine has some dark blueticks that are difficult to see in the shadow underneath the sericea. Big Malachi ran with a beautiful redtick female in the last trial I entered him in and he has been pining away ever since. Love at first sight, I guess. I agree with him, since I ran English coonhounds I have been partial to redticks, but don't own one yet. How about it, guys and gals?

:gunguy: I know this is gonna sound like a copout, but if it's a beagle I don't care if it's pink as long as it can run a rabbit. I kinda like the tricolors, but the black and tans are good looking too. I like lemons (my wife wants one) and heck some guy posted a picture of a pure white beagle and it was beautiful. Beagles are AWESOME!!! Brian

I think all beagles should be black and tan with a bluetick ring around there neck.

I have had the traditional tri-color beagle and 2 lemons and like them both. Now I have just gotten a bluetick pup (that I thought was ugly when I first got him, but that color is growing on me). Even Swing's ugly crooked legged, double dew clawed mongerels look ok to me too. I guess I am saying, if it is a beagle then it is ok with me.

As everyone already knows I like them black and tan, but I will keep a few others if they can run the hair off of a rabbit. The black and tans make for rough work when running at night, You can never see them, but I rarely run at night so it's not a problem.

I like the lemon spot but I'll run a purple and pink spotted one if it don't have too many bad habits. The open marked dogs seem to be easier to keep up with in the brush. I' ve got two blondes now, my big blond female had a pup and it's going be blonde. I need to come up around Pike County before long, do you think you can find me a dog to beat Perkins with?LOL

Black and tans are my preference, however I do like a solid red hound also. They all have to run a rabbit first for me.

Color doesn't run a rabbit, but my preference is blueticks and redticks.

I prefer the Black and tans, but I do have a pretty little red pup in my kennel now. I still like their hunting ability over their looks though. :)

darn good looking hounds you got there TC!!!!!! I like a blanket back bluetick with as little tan as possible, just black and bluetick...Early season, I have a female with a LOT of white on her and she really sticks out in the pack when they run by!!! As the snow flies, however, she gets a little hard to see, and a black and tan will show up the best...I would like to have one of those Brindle beagles they have in Europe, but fat chance of getting one here!!!
