Just got back from the U.P. The running was awesome as usual. My son and I went with my buddy and his son. We ran two pack from daylight till almost dark. One dog ran with both packs. The first day he ran 30.78 miles and the second day he ran 19.23 miles. The morning we left we let them stretch there legs and he ran 10.55 miles. 60 miles in 2 1/2 days. My son 14 years old and my buddies son 13 years old were the only ones to carry a gun and they manage to kill 9. This was both of there's first hare hunt. For the guys who don't shoot them or think this was to many to kill on bare ground can kiss my a$$ cause these two kids had a lot of fun.

I choose not to shoot hare, I just like to run them but I don't see the need to kiss your a$$ because your boys had a fun weekend.

He's just saying he doesn't want to hear the bs. He is showing off his boys and don't everyone to ruin it. I behind you Rob. Always let the kids have their fun. Looks like they had a great time. By the way what's that bluetick you got there? I always like seeing young ones getting into something other than video games. Good shooting boys.

reddog1 I think the comment was pretty clear toward the type of people it was intended towards. But if you still have a problem here is my # 231-830-4025. Your type of comments are the crap I am tired of hearing. I may have worded that comment wrong. I do apologise. It is intend for the guys that do not shoot any and think other people should never, or the people that think it is not very sporting to shoot white hare on bare ground.

Its really not that sporting to shoot a bunch of white hare on bare ground, Too me any way. But, I understand it makes you and your dogs look good in all the pictures, and that stuff is important (to some people).

I am happy you had a good hunt with your youngsters. however there is nothing "sporty" about shooting white hare on bare ground; regardless how you want to wrap it!

in my opinion no one should ever have to apologize or come up with any sort of justification for hunting. If you just enjoy the chase, that's fine. If you like to knock a few down that's fine too.
To the guys that don't think it's sporting to shoot a white hare on bare ground....... there's plenty of folks in this world who don't think it's sporting to use a gun to take the hare if your dogs can't catch it.
Also plenty who think it's not sporting to use hounds for that matter.
Perspective is a wonderful thing.

That said, and it's also my opinion, it's NOT your "right to shoot or kill a hare or any other game........ it's a priviledge and should be treated as such.
Simply because you can kill your limit in some spots doesn't always mean you have to or should ;)

Hard Driving,
It was the way that you worded your comment that prompted me to respond. I agree with you on the crap that gets put on this board. My Grandson carries a gun and shoots rabbits when he goes with me, I just choose not to.

And Guy's it really doesn't matter what color the rabbits are. If you got dogs that will run them, and you put yourself in the right position, The rabbits or hare could be purple for all that matters. When I go to Drummond for the whole month of October, The Hare are brown and I could easily take a limit every day if I wanted to. There is nothing wrong with what these 2 boys did. 9 hare between 2 boys in 3 days is really nothing. If each one shot their legal limit for the 3 days there would be 30 hare in front of them.

This is a public forum so comment away. Klrconcrete if I was trying to look good I would have combed my hair and far as the dogs they usually don't need no help. White, brown or black when you are 13 and 14 years old it is hard as heck shooting a hare crossing a two track. Where we hunted it is so thick you cant see them coming till they hit the trail and then most of the time it is to late. But feel free to keep your mouth running, like I said it is a public forum so comment away.

This was my boys first Hare hunt and I do not believe he would have had as good time without the shooting. I my self have ran hundreds of Hares and thousands of cottontail without carrying a gun but to a 13 and 14 year old the smile on their faces when those hare drop is priceless. If it is legal and I can afford it, he can kill it as long as we do not waste it.
