i just talked to a old friend today who runs alot around rexton and trout lake . he lost two dogs to the wolves this last spring . he also had a year old pup down with them and he was able to get away from them and make it back to my friend. buddy said wolve was close behind and chased the pup all the way back to him before running off. it sounds like the days of standing on the road and just letting the dogs run in them areas is over. better get in the woods and protect the dogs now.i think more dogs are being killed in those areas then we know.

Been hearing several reports of it, but you never know what to believe. From what I understand the worst time is late summer early fall when they are training pups. I think the wolves are an unfortunate reality that we are stuck with. Don't always carry a gun when running dogs, but I think its likely warranted in the U.P. these days. Curious how low the deer heard will get before they have to decide on deer or wolves. DNR makes big $$$ on deer licenses. They will be tough to sell if the deer get too scarce. How long before there will be considerable numbers in lower Michigan? Big cities are complaining about ferrel cats, maybe they could relocate some of these wolves.....they could take care of the stray and agressive dog problem as well....

I lost a nice 11 month old to the wolves bout a hr northwest of the bridge back middle of Oct.

Sorry about your lost I know it was a hard ride home .

The wolves are all over, in the U.P. That particular area you're both talking about, however, is an area that borders 2 different wolf packs. The wolves are very territorial and there are confrontations between the packs there . Dogs of all kinds are trespassers.
