I am sure other people have run into this problem before, What actions would you take if you bought a pup, and the breeder refuses to get the puppy papers to you? will the Akc step up to see you get the proper paperwork, or file a complaint with small claims court or What?

As far as I no akc will do nothing
Afraid to say it over a beagle but court is ur best bet
Gona have more In time an gas than what u probally have in pup
Sometimes u just have to cut ur losses

Sounds like they did not have puppy papers to start with. Never had a problem with anyone giving me papers if they actually have them. Sounds like they were selling grade dogs as AKC dogs just to get the extra couple hundred out of them pups. Did you see the papers on the sire and dam, or atleast a pedigree showing what bloodline they were from?

he stated that he had filed thru akc...and the sire wasn't listed correctly! and he had refiled, the owner of the sire has stated he gave him the proper paperwork on the 18th of October I have suspected that either he is selling grade dogs as registered or he is playing tricks on akc.and the public...the trouble that I have with this person, and the akc has been notified, I can't see them honoring any further transaction from him... and as far as seeing any kind of legiment paper work I haven't! he stated I shouldn't have written anything on the board about him, it would make him look dishonest. imagine that!

What a shame but the good news is your pup can't read so it wont know what its papers say.if it makes a nice dog it will have the same value without the akc papers

I dont know who you are talking about, but OCt 18th isnt that long ago. All it takes is one number or one letter out of place and AKC will kick back a litter app.

By what you posted the said seller hasnt refused to send them, sounds like they are having issues getting them. Maybe just maybe they made a typo ???

How long ago did you buy the puppy ?

Well if he is actually refusing to give you the puppy papers...What does he expect?. I know that it can take 2-3 weeks for puppy papers to arrive, so maybe he is legit and just has not got them yet. Give it another week or two before we jump to too many conclusions. I know papers do not run a rabbit, but if you pay for papers then thats what you should get.

Not necessarally, a pup will always have more value with papers. If that was the case, we'd ALL have grade dogs....

how old is the pup... if its going on a 8-9 months old i can see being alittle agravated bc it should of been handled at 2-3 months old... but i wouldnt jump to conclusions on the guy being he just got info back from akc on the 18th.. sounds like he's trying to work it out. like any large organization it seems paperwork has to pass thru the chains of command and will typically sit for long periods of time.. its not a simple as walking in and getting your drivers license renewed lol.. i for one will not let a pup go without the papers being in the new owners hands. seems too many ppl drag there feet(procrastinate) and are not responsible enough to do there part in a timely fashion when it comes to paperwork on litters..its like a disease with some ppl.. or is it just LAZY!

Just give the pup away. Pups are bred to satisfy and represent the breeder. Therefore, low qaulity breeder = low qaulity dogs being bred. You will save more money and time if you gave the pup away.

I also missed the part where he has the papers already. I thought it said that he sent them in on the 18th, not had them on the 18th. Deffinetly some thing fishy going on. My question is...Why is he refusing to give you the papers?
