1st things first, he is dead. He was a Little pack GRand Champion and Bench Grand Champion. Also won the World Hunt. Full 15 inch dog with real good foot, was a track dog supreme, but not the hardest hunter. Produced a lot of Champions. Most of this is 2nd hand info from people that actually saw him run, but most people will admit that he was an excellent track dog with a big mouth that could get up and go.

Blueback was owned by Bert Spicer and sons of Spicer boy kennels. There are still a few sons and daughters of Blueback out there, some of them doing well. He was placed in the hall of fame as a producer and I think he also won hound of the year. He died at an early age at Berts kennel of Kidney failure. Tys Candy man is one of his sons and I think he is still owned by Larry Kirtenback. There is a another 2 sons in Ohio, O's Bluebelly and Cody's Blue Bogus. I believe all three are at least field champions.

Last I heard, Steve Orewiler owned a son of Blueback named O's Blue Buddie...Father to one of my blueticks, and if I'm not mistaken, is one of the stars in Jason Schag's video...Tony

I raised a litter out of Blue Back and kept 2 males one of them died at about 2 months old ( have no idea why ) the other one was named Ty,s Candyman, I started him and he made Grand bench champion and he was also a champion in the field in little pack, he had 2 wins in the champion class, I sold him to larry kirtenback who I believe has got aleast 2 more wins might have even granded him out. He was and I'm sure still is a real nice hound.

I think the best thing about blue back dogs is they are good rabbit dogs as well as trial dogs

I have owned 4 dogs that had Blue Back as a grand Parent on the Dam's side and they all had one thing in common, they could run the snot out of a rabbit.

I have bean raising some very nice pups out of Blue Belly. The oldest one ive got has already championed out on the bench in little pack.I also placed third in a UKC hunt with him.I havnt ran him in little pack yet.I think a 7 month old pup placeing third is very good ,specially when there were over 25 dogs at the hunt.

I own a grandson of Blueback -- best mouth I ever heard, runs a good track but does not hunt to hard and like to come check in with me all the time. Never trailed him -- since he has no hunt I don't utilize him much, but when he gets a good run going with that mouth he is hard to ignore -- shame he did not have more hunt or who knows how good he could be given the time.
