What You Got To Lose?

All you boys who want to sell these high bred pups for $500 and up with the idea that somehow they are going to become better dogs than the lower price brand, here's what I will do. I will come get the pup, treat it well, run it everyday for 1 year and, if it becomes what you folks say it will become, I will pay the price. If it does not, I will give it back to you. I will even keep an update on the Beagler. What you got to lose? If it obviously does not make the grade before the year is up. I will bring it back to you then.
It would seem to me that a man could sell a lot of pups using this policy and it wouldn't cost him a penny. As a matter of fact, he would make money because the person taking the pup would pay for food, shots, vet bills, training, etc. If he gets it back, he can sell it at a year old for a lot more money.
In the old days, I sold a lot of 5 month old pups for $100 using this philosophy. Never lost a penny on them in my life and made a lot of friends.

you are absolutelt right buck, but i bet you don't get any takers. imo them guys are out trying to make a buck, not trying to better the breed. it seems like everybody that finishes a dog thinks they are gonna be the branko of beagling.

I'll take that deal! I got a pup on the ground right now and you can have your pick of em.. YOu pay me the 500.00 up front and you take the dog. I will put it in a separate account and you can update on the board how many times you take it out and what not.. After a year if you don't like him I will refund your money and take the dog back..
Condition is you must have a vet record of his shots and when you return him it needs to be parasite free...
I am waiting....
Also the Style will be UKC hard hitting dog so if its not your style to begin with then don't take the pup...

Buck, I would take you up on your offer as soon as I have some pups. May not be until next Spring but I would love to get pups into someones hands that takes it as seriously as you do...

Buck, You would certainly be a good man for the job, but unfortunately all of mine are the low priced kind!

If you don't like the price don't pay it.....if you don't think the pup is worth that much than keep looking. If the parties involved in a deal are both happy it was a good deal regardless of what other people think about the price.

Dixie Dog: You made it very simple. Pay what you want. I saw a man the other day and priced him a dog for $300. He said the price was fine but he would rather wait a couple months until hunting season and pay a little more. I said I thought that was a great idea and I would take a little more when hunting season comes.
Mo: You fleshed my scenario out real well. There would of course have to be some sort of contract to make everything legal. Yours sounds as good as any. I would like to get one a little closer to home but feel free to send me a pic. I want something that will be about 16 inces, open colored, male, good tempered and no growl.
StaveMill: See you are still up to your old mind set. Your opinion is duly noted and since everyone has one, It is my opinion that you can stick yours somewhere where the sun never shines and twist it about two inches to the left. JMO

Or better yet, stay off my threads.

bbb---So you want to start out with a dog you know can't compete in any format? That's a convenient way to get out of what you said you wanted.. NO TRIALER OR BEAGLE HUNTER WOULD BREED OR CHARGE 500.00 FOR A PUP THAT HE KNEW WOULD GO OVER 15 ON PURPOSE NONE PERIOD.. .
I will post pics and sign a contract to make it it legal.. the dogs will be around 14.5 inches..

Mo: I am not a trialer. I am not a killer. I run for the pleasure of it. Anything I buy, has to suit me and no one else, thus, the 16" requirement. That is not an absolute. I can take a smaller dog if it does what I want it to do. I have two out here now that are 15 inch and they do just fine so.

Buck, How about this, If you come down to see Bradwv, how about stopping by my place. I will give you a pup to run. Here is the deal, when the pup is at least a year old you take him to 1 midwest trial and 1 UKC trial . if he wins or places in either one you have to kill him on the spot and I will pay you for the feed. If he is not dead you return him to me after this and I will take him to a PBGA or NEBGF trial and if he doesn't place I will send you the cost of his feed for this time plus one hundred dollars.
