lets hear about the young one

Post by Murphy's Kennel »

I like to hear about the young and upcoming hounds. So if you have som2ething young and doing good lets hear about it.

I have a 14 month old male that is out of Jew Knee and Martins Ruby that if he keeps getting better he's gonna be a beast. He is jumping alot of rabbits and isn't pulling any minuses. He pours the mouth and runs it right. I really like this young dog and if he keeps progressing he's gonna be at some trials this fall. His litter mates are doing great too. I also have a 5 month out of my Demon dog that I am thinking a lot of. So there's mine lets hear about yours

Been running 2 that just turned 2 years old. Gentlemans Electric "Smokehouse" and GCRS Late Bloomin "Fergalicious" are both tearing up my older dogs. Smokehouse is a Chester T-Rex concoction that is a big long houndy bluetick that can flat leave a pack the right way. He runs with a growling chop that can turn into a machine gun chop when the smelling is good. He is from a litter that we bred here after some calculating and a little bit of gambling.
Fergie is a Buzzsaw Let er Rip combination, she is one of beautiful long legged tricolor that hunts hard and runs a heck of a track with good foot. Her mouth sounds like a pack of dogs running all rolled into one. She came to Pete Tuck and I from Lynn Perkins and after a year of steady running she is hell on wheels solo or in a pack.
Where's the earth shattering kaboom ?

Have a nice 8 month old off of Butkus and a heavy Indian Hill's Majer female. She is showing signs of those special qualities we all like to see!! She can really track a rabbit and accurately uses her mouth. She is jumping rabbits pretty regularly as well. This season will be a fun one to see how she comes along! Good running to all!!

I have a great up and coming 9 month old out of Hornbills Topfuel Chester if he keeps up what he is doing now and keeps getting better like he has been he will be something to write home about in the future. John and Jack also have another great pup out of this litter then may put on here his name is MAx.

Torque is an opened marked bluetick and looks extremely similar to Chester. He is currently about 9 months old. He is one of the best mannered dogs I have around the house and he listens extremely well. He was started when I purchased him from Jack. I brought him back and it has been nothing but a pleasure since. I run him about 4-5 times a week and it doesn’t even bother him. He is a very hardy dog and is ready to run the next day after a 3-4 hour hard run the day before. He has been ran mostly with my 14 month old male who is a step slower but an awesome line control and check dog. I also run him with my finished 2 ½ year old she is fast and a little swingy at times and can over run a track in the open, but she is a real nice hound in herself. Majority of the time when I run them together now Torque is already leading them the he is VERY fast yet has amazing line control for his speed. If he over runs it he is back looking for the check fast and hard. He is also a very good check dog, and is just unbelievably explosive out of the check area once he has it. He is not mouthy in the check area the dog you hear bark a little in the checks in the video is the red female. When he barks in the check area he has it and he takes it quick. He usually leaves my other dogs in the dust in a check area if he picks it up first. He also is not mouthy at all when he is out hunting if he starts to bark the rabbit is up or it is somewhere right there. He also has amazing hunt for an 9 month old pup. When I cut him loose whether he is in my pack, by himself, or with my 14 month old male he is in the brush and looking for a rabbit. He hunts a pretty good amount of ground rather quickly but also is not afraid to hit the brush piles. His air scenting ability is also fantastic. He will be running a trail or more open terrain catch scent dive in and jump one. He has done this several times and it makes me laugh each and every time. My female also does it and its fun to watch them do it together. He seems to have a great nose, but I have obviously not had a chance to run him in the snow which is the most important thing for me being from PA. He does very well in the dry hot weather though. He defiantly will slow down and work out a hard track unlike my fast female. On a bad scent day he makes her look bad.

All in all I couldn’t be happier with my pup out of Chester and I sure hope most of his pups turn out to be half as good as Torque appears he will finish. I sure cannot wait to see him run hare in Maine the first week of October. He should just flat out fly on them.

Here is a clip from running today. My female over runs a little bit so he got pulled a few time but he still looks really good for an 9 month old pup. I will try to get a solo video sometime soon.

8 month old Torque is the open marked bluetick, 14 month old Gauge is the blanket back tri color, and 2 1/2 year old rose the red and white one

He just had turned 8 months old in this video. Sorry for the quality it is just an HD video from my phone. When I get solo video of him I will take my good camera. Switch it to the 720 p on the options and its better.

I'll will have to add to this also, because I'm very proud of my young male Big Hoss. The littermate brother to Anthony Kerr's Smokehouse dog. Big Hoss will jump every rabbit in the woods, just give him a minute or two. This morning he absolutely destroyed the other 4 big males I had down with him. As Anthony said about Smokehouse, both he and Big Hoss can do it right. Big Hoss is 15 inches of pure power.

My other younster, who just turned two this spring is coming on pretty strong also, Jeremy's Little Buddy came directly from Lynn Perkins. A Buzzsaw grandson that is off of Keg. A step slower than the rest of my pack, but that does not bother him and Buddy will run right through the middle of them if they bobble. The other thing about that I like so much Buddy is that when I drop the tailgate, he does not rip and run and pee on everything, he hits the brush hunting hard. He was on the ground this morning less than two minutes before he started the first race.

We finally got some rain and this morning there was a tremendous difference in running. Jumped 5 rabbits, the first three were half-grown to smaller rabbits that I thought were going to get eaten. The last two rabbits were full grown and claude have mercy on the music I was hearing this morning. It was freaking awesome and I can't wait until tomorrow morning to turn'em loose again. With the very hot and dry conditions we have been having my running had been very spotty, but today it was ON LIKE NECKBONE.

I have a female out of the same litter as the Chester pup mentioned above "Torque" and she is coming on like an acre of onions. Her very first trip out after two weeks in the starting pen she got up the first three rabbits on her own and is going to have blazing speed. hopefully the weather will stay a little cooler so that I can run her as much as I'd like to. It won't be long at all until shes as good as any hound around.

Hound hunter which female do you have? There was 3females and 3 males in that litter I kept the big male which is going to be a full 15 and is a top notch hound. I just can't wait to start running him in the mid west,I think I will take him to his 1st one this fall at north central if I feel he is ready, being he won't be a year old yet. His name is topfuel machine gun max you can see him on general services under Chester's stud add. He is a clone of Chester and he is a front end dog with the nose power to lock on a track and keep moving it forward works a very tight check and explodes out with a very fast machine gun chop and the foot to make it hard for most dogs to take And hold for very long. I no that's a pretty bold statement to make about a 9 month old dog but he is the real deal and i feel very blessed to own such a nice pup. I started topfuel Chester as a pup and so far they are one in the same so hopefully with a little luck max will run though the mid west like Chester did. And before I go If any one knows Duane bowling please let him no I've been trying to get ahold of him to make him a offer to buy the dam back maple hills Beatrice littermate sister to 3x f c side hill keuka blue, because with the way this litter is turning out it would be a crime to not do it again. I got a young female that will turn a year old the 24th I think...Has extreme foot, super hunt and is a good jump dog....She has won 2 PKC trials already and and went to the quarter finals of the PKC World at 8 months old. She has been jumping her own and running since 3 months old and has been only getting better...Now she did hit a spurt of deer until Sportdog got a hold of her....She will be trialed a good deal when the weather cools a bit...I'm really proud to own such a pup...Here's a pic of her less than a month before the World enjoying the couch in the family room,LOL....Doesn't look like much of a rabbit dog does it, well don't let the pic fool you she knows what to do when she hits the brush.....

Bull357, man that's a nice pup he sure is one to be proud of.....Just think what he's gonna be when he's 3 yrs. old, HARD TO CONTEND WITH FOR SURE....That's how my female I put a pic on the couch of is almost every time through she's leading and we don't run any slouches here...Can't ask for more than that...Good Luck with Torque he's an awesome young hound....

@ J Lawhorn I will get a picture of her posted on here, because I'm not sure what the other pups look like but she is an open marked true bluetick with brown eyes. I'm sure most of that litter were ticked pretty good. I'm not sure how she wound up in my neck of the woods but I'm glad she did. I also watched the youtube video of Torque and you probably couldn't tell them apart by their mouth. I wish Chester was closer, I'd love to breed another female I have to him.
