Long story short my female had to have a c-section and we saved 2 of the 7 pups. The female died later that night. My question is have you ever bottle fed pups and if so did it effect the pups hunting ability, health, etc. in their adult life? Thanks in advance for your input.

I had to do the same thing with a litter I had here a few years back..we saved one puppy from the litter and she is, to this day, the best jump dog I own...Being bottle fed will not affect what kind of hunting dog they turn in to, thats my opinion anyways. But it is alot of work and takes alot of your time feeding around the clock and cleaning up puppies but in the end, you will be glad you did it..I know I sure am! Good luck with your pup.

My best litter ever was bottle fed.
I used the formula you find at TSC, Petco, etc.
Kept them on it for prob. 12 wks.
Added more wet dog food to it as they got older.

I had a bitch whos milk went bad and we had to hand raise three pups. One is still in Maine and running well, he's 12 years old. These pups were tube fed, far better than bottle feeding. Coarse we HAD to do this for this particular litter as they were too weak to suck a nipple. I would always choose this route. Vet showed me how it's done and man, was I glad. It is a lot of work.
