Is it necessary to give Safeguard three days in a row after the first initial worming session of three days with it ?
I read (Saved the info somewhere just don't know where right now:)) it had to stay in the system three days but is that true for followup worming sessions 60 days later or is one day dosage effective on all followups?
I use Equimax on all my dogs except for the Aussie.

That's what I've heard. Three days in a row and then two weeks later 3 days in a row again. That reminds me, I need to do my next round of 3 days with my dogs.

If I can inquire on this one. I've had some friends say they use both Safeguard and Equimax. I've heard Equimax is good for several kinds of worms including heartworm and tapes. What has been your experience with these wormers. Thanks in advance, Steve.

I've never used Equimax. I use Safeguard for tapeworms and Ivomec for heartworms. I recently bought Nemex to use on my puppies, it's great for tape and round worms. Just gave it to my adult dogs also. There's a good article in the July issue of TAB about worm meds, although I had to read it a couple times to follow it. Also, if you do a search on this site for worms or wormers you'll see lots of info on it.

I read that article too, had to read it twice also. I believe I'll leave equimax alone because of what I think I read. Seemed to imply it was strong on Ivomectrin. I have used Safegaurd for about 5 years now w/ good results, even gets the tapes out that they seem to get. I have never needed to follow up in 2 wks. I could see it necassary though on dirt pens or chained out dogs. I use ivomec for heartworm.
